But just like Ubisoft, every once and in a while, this seemingly lifeless company can make something reinvigorating, exciting, and fun! And Asphalt 9 is one such case. Prop your phone onto a controller, or download on Switch, and you've got yourself what's easily the best unofficial Burnout game. Takedowns can be pulled in mid-air jumps with a satisfying 360 spin that feels like a two-ton roundhouse kick, at constant high speed thanks to plentiful boost and well-designed tracks.
Yes, it's free to play and yes it's UI is obnoxious in its design, ads, and mechanics, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a blast with this game.
