The Go Trilogy by Square Enix Montreal

Recently, I got a new phone (Ulefone Power 6), and no longer having to worry about a battery that dies the moment it loads a game's menu, I've gotten the chance to play Mobile titles I've always been curious about, one of which being, The Go Trilogy.

Starting with Hitman, Square Enix's Montreal studio ended up making three puzzle-based titles, all of whom share a core-formula, and adjust it depending on the universe it takes place in.

Hitman. Lara Croft. Deus Ex.

And all of them are beautifully crafted, especially in visual presentation. The Montreal staff did an outstanding job of capturing the atmosphere and spirit of each franchise, while injecting it with their own creativity. The puzzles themselves are compelling too... generally. Admittedly, all the games suffer from occasional puzzles whose solutions are tedious to complete.

But that's not enough to say you shouldn't check these out, especially if you're a fan of one or each franchise the Go Trilogy uses. And while I'm on the Mobile train...

Golf Peaks by Afterburn

Lucas, why are you recommending me a Golf game?

Well, I did manage to make F1 look appealing to newcomers so might as well up the challenge, right? No, but seriously, while in the title and visuals, Golf Peaks isn't a sports game, it's a puzzle game, actually in a similar vein to the Go Trilogy. Asking players to reach their destination, with a limited selection of moves.

And what results is a game that especially as someone who originally pursued Golf as a career, messes with your instincts. Moves defy physics, you'll have to intentionally hit the ball into the wall to plan for later shots. It's unconventional, it's unique, and it's quite fun. Once you get past the first world, which kinda plays itself.

Rocket Fuel by DJ Shadow

Currently, multiple promising albums are on the horizon. In a previous list, I posted single from Chelsea Wolfe from her upcoming album out this month, and this time, it's a classic artist I've recommended before, the legend himself, DJ Shadow.

Rocket Fuel immediately took me back to the days of 00's acts like Deltron 3030, with an infectious beat that I'm headbanging to as I type this. Obviously, there's never a guarantee the rest of the record will be as fun as this track, but I'm hoping its as good.
