A New Approach to Patreon

Приветствую
(Greetings)

I speak to you know from a few days of relaxing and reflection upon the latest video - though judging by the Russian, still played too much CoD - the response of which, has been extremely positive. I've had multiple regulars tell me its the best work yet, which makes me relieved and partially insane, being I hated almost everything about it just two weeks before uploading. I'm sure the latter will fade with time though, and even if the former doesn't resonate with me, I'll still be proud of the work, and what doors it leaves open for the future. If you want to know more about its production, I've left a separate article below this one, also open to the public.

But in this shorter piece, I wanna delve into my plans for Patreon.

Originally, when I paused the Patreon, it was meant as a rare event stemmed from delays within my control, such as on Mass Effect Andromeda. But this year has seen far fewer videos than 2018, with far more pauses. Those pauses were meant to prevent the former; in the event of a video being delayed, I'd sacrifice the Patreon content to focus on videos, as that's (hopefully) the primary reason people donate.

However, with the Modern Warfare video, all that happened was you, the people willingly supporting my work getting neither video content, nor anything personal from me here on Patreon. It was just the worst of both worlds.

So what I've devised, is a new approach to Patreon.

Not a complete overhaul, the tiers, the layout, the Discord, the post-video hangouts will all be essentially the same. The difference will be in-terms of releases. Rather than a Recommendations list in week one, a Randomly Mine in week two, and traditionally something in Discord on Week three. What I'd do instead is break these up into individual posts. Rather than a recommendations list for one week with a variety of games, books, movies, etc. I'll post a recommendation once a week. Same for Randomly Mine. Alongside Q&A's.

Think of this Patreon as peeking into my sketchbook. Seeing the details and thoughts I have which ordinarily are cut for time, or cleaved due to being too random or zany. Because you are the most dedicated viewers, and you deserve this page to have far more interaction, rather than me being constantly absent.

It honestly gives me more freedom too. Rather than feeling pressured to be reading, watching, and playing constantly to have one list of recommendations or mini-essays put together, I can pace them more effectively, while giving you guys a much steadier stream of content.

It's a win win.

This new approach to Patreon will begin in the New Year. It allows me to write various posts ahead of time, in-case I need to fall back due to personal matters (which I've also learned from last year can surprise you, my Mother broke her arm during the Summer), and it gives time to let all of you respond to this pitch, even pitch your own ideas.

As always, thank you for your continued support. I really wish I could more effectively convey my gratitude. Hopefully these new-wave of posts will express as such.

Best wishes,
Raycevick

He sounds like a nice fellow

I tried to comment on this a couple of times but neither comment has shown up. Stuck in a moderation queue? Or a Patreon glitch? In any case, it was largely me just trying to be supportive and encourage you to only pause if you feel it's absolutely necessary. Your content is always good enough to wait for, and paying for the quiet times reaps dividends for the ones where your content drops. Thanks for all the hard work!
