Raycevick's Recommendations: 1917

There is in-fact another movie in Theater's that I enjoyed quite a bit more than 1917 due to personal biases. Thing is, it's not a film that requires the cinema to receive the full experience. Typically why blockbuster action-films are associated with going to the Movies, is because the definition and sound can really immerse you in the world. Not to say dramas or comedies can't be enjoyed in Theater, they just don't reap the same benefits.
1917 is a Film I assume to enjoy on a repeat viewing, but even with a decent TV, it won't be the same. Rarely does a picture truly blow me away by its cinematography alone, but 1917 is such a film. It is immaculate, ambitious, and well-acted from start to finish. The long-take styling didn't feel gimmicky, as it really suited the basic but tense story of two soldiers going across what were once enemy lines, and may just have someone around the corner at any moment.
What I appreciate the most about this film though, is that it isn't purely a tense war film. There's some truly emotional scenes that display the best of humanity in compassion, comradery, and bravery.
Regardless of how someone may feel about the film, it's definitely worth making a trip to see it on the big screen.
