Raycevick's Recommendations: Die Hard with a Vengeance

Where Die Hard 2: Die Harder (Jeeesus Christ) was a likable but safe sequel, Vengeance feels like a proper follow-up. Abolishing the Christmas disasters, impersonal terrorist's, and rekindling with Holly, for a brilliantly paced action-movie that's part thriller, part heist film, and supremely written from start to finish.
While the directing is easily John Mctiernan's peak, the script is what really impressed me rewatching this film recently. It's funny, dramatic, daring, and immensely detailed. In-fact, the original ending was a little too edgy for its own good, resulting in the quickly reshot conclusion that's really the movie's only weak point, and the one thing maybe preventing this from ascending above the original.
But it's easily just as good, and one of my favorite movies, period.
