What game do you think is overhated?

Anything that's led to people attacking developers personally. Mass Effect: Andromeda, Cyberpunk 2077, Dragon Age 2, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. I understand games aren't cheap, and we care about games because we love them, but even the most abysmal, and appalling game is not worth going beyond a forum post over.

What game would benefit of a condensation of mechanics similar to apex's 3v3 mode?

Titanfall 2!

I'm just kidding. I actually really enjoyed Squad Rush back on Bad Company 2, and even the modes in Hardline, though it was stupid of them to try to setup those as some sort of eSport.

This question is honestly a lot tougher than I thought, being that one of the reasons Apex Legends works when being condensed, is that its core-gameplay was itself, lifted from a game designed for small fast encounters. One of the reasons people forgave PUBG's jank when it launched, is that it was a large scale game with a unique design framework. It didn't need Quake precision.

As a result of that then, lots of bigger games kind of fall apart when they move to small modes, where the scale's spectacle can no longer distract from core-gameplay and how good or bad its construction is.

what prospect are you most excited for with the new generation of games?

Being able to do more with less. Games like Hellblade and Control, and that the multiplayer industry was pushed by a bunch of middle market modders stemming from the Arma/DayZ community, has me hopeful that the future will be about small teams making games that look AAA from only a couple years ago, but with the individuality to make it feel personal rather than corporate.

Opinion on the first black ops?

I can't really give a current one, but what I thought of it at the time. I loved it. Black Ops 1 seemed like a beautiful concoction of ideas where nothing was off limits and the team only cared about making the most feature packed game yet. You could see Treyarch really trying to up their stamp on the franchise rather than being seen as Robin to IW's Batman.

I miss Wager Matches so goddamn much. Yes,  the custom modes returned in Black Ops 2, but it wasn't the same as binging High Roller enough to stack up 300k, and scare people the moment you joined a lobby knowing, they were likely to lose money, but they wanna take their chance.

Will I still have this opinion when I eventually replay and analyze it?

Only time will tell.

Some people have expressed dismay at how No Man’s sky’s updates made the gameplay less unique/more like other games. Similar complaints to siege. With that set up, how important should it be that updates/DLC for a game don’t alter it too much. Is there a limit to adding/changing base gameplay in order to avoid alienating players attracted by an initial premise?
