Status Report + Q&A

Greetings everybody,

Those who follow on Twitter might've already seen what happened a few days ago in regards to software, but for the sake of clarity, I'll quickly explain. In January I switched editing from Adobe Premiere to DaVinci Resolve, due to updates of Premiere only becoming slower, buggier, and more cumbersome with time. Editing timelines often felt like pulling teeth, even after upgrading my PC a few years ago.

However, I made the switch back to Premiere upon compiling this project, due to constant rendering bugs in DaVinci that delayed videos by days, as well as causing heaps of stress and burnout on my end. Thankfully, returning has felt revitalizing...

That is, after spending days reinstalling various versions of Adobe Premiere to try to find which one crashes the least. I've so far settled on 2015, though it's also caused various cases of panic, with crashes immediately upon importing a file it doesn't like or exporting without cleaning the cache, the result is while things are chugging a long, there's still lots of work to do despite my efforts, and I'd be surprised if this video released next week.

However, I can see the light at the end of this tunnel, and its steadily coming closer. It's not a titanic super-video due to June spent wallowing, but it's one that I'm enjoying the process of which hasn't happened in some time, and I thank all of you for sticking by, it means a lot.

Now...

After watching your Burnout vid, one commenter pointed out Split/Second (Which I've enjoyed despite its problems), at that point you didn't get round to it, have you played it since then? If so, any thoughts?

I've only played the demo back when it came out and I didn't think much of it back then. However, I do own the game on PC and will try it out sometime soon, curious to see how it's aged compared to Modnation Racers & Blur.

What games (in your opinion) are considered classics? and What games should be considered classics.

I can only answer what games I believe are classics, so here we go. Also, I won't mention obvious ones like Mario, Tetris, DOOM, etc. Those should go without saying.

Max Payne 1-2. Burnout 3-4. Battlefield 1942, BF2, BC2. Thief 1-3. Dragon Age Origins. Driver San Francisco. Trackmania Nations Forever. MGS3. FEAR. Far Cry 2-3. LIMBO. Super Meat Boy. Metro 2033-Last Light. ME Trilogy. UT99-3. These are just the ones off the top of my head, but all games that I think will stand the test of time in some aspect, be it gameplay, themes, style, or design.

What would you consider your "phase" that you are at least somewhat ashamed of now, regarding the art you liked, of course

The Montage Phase.

Yeah, I was one of those idiots using deranked accounts, farming objective modes for kills, and setting up custom matches in my favor. So Halo 3's fun custom modes were often ignored in the name of "MLG" stuff which I'm rather ashamed of, because that games social aspect was and is effectively unrivaled.

I'm definitely far more open minded today. I still love competitive modes and close tense matches, but I also love me some Gravity hammer golf clubs.

The Avengers, Gotham Knights and Rocksteady's Suicide Squad all turned out to be coop experiences, 2 of which are loot-based. Are we seeing a new trend and what will it mean for the market, specifically, is there no how for singleplayer Arkham-style superhero games now

What do you think about the state of E3 and other various gaming events? I'm thinking mostly of EVO but others have been hit hard due to COVID.
