Raycevick's Recommendations: Lost in Translation

I've been meaning to watch this film for years and finally had the opportunity via a friend who predicted I'd love the movie, because it's sad.

Well, I did! And it is sad, but it's many things, many emotions that Sofia Coppola explores more believably than just about anyone else. Characters are mature, scenes are left to breathe, and the actors charisma and charm is what contrasts the complications they're confronted with.

It's been multiple days, and yet, I still catch myself thinking about this film,

A really great movie! I remember watching it when it released... like you I was thinking about it for months. I've never seen a film (prior or past) which conveys deep human emotions in scenes without dialogue like this one, just through the sublime acting! It's on my top ten list of the best movies ever.

Lars Scholz

When I saw this movie I knew I had to get to Tokyo. I managed to go at the end of 2007 after 5 months in South East Asia. It was everything I had hoped it would be, and then some. We got adopted by a group of salarymen that showed us around and let us into their circle. It's an incredible place, and I highly recommend going. I don't think there's anywhere quite like it in the world. I was actually at the hotel from the movie, and had drinks in the sky bar where it's filmed. I sat inthe seat Murray is in when Johansson says: "You seem to like this seat" and he replies: "Yeah, if I fall, someone will notice." It had been an emotional trip and now I was going back to Denmark. It felt like coming full circle, from dreaming of the place, to being in the specific chair you had had in your minds eye. Fantastic movie, and amazing soundtrack. A few pics from the bar: https://imgur.com/a/YmVX3uv
