The way Mike Flanagan is able to merge the horror genre with emotional storylines involving characters that are fully realized is nothing short of spectacular. Now, get ready for one of the best episodes of television ever. This next episode is a masterpiece! =]

You could probably get the basics of what the episode is generally conveying and what it's doing with/for the main focus of this episode. But without the context of the previous episodes, it'd be like understanding why someone dying in the show is sad, which is obvious but not really why it's absolutely heartbreaking.
You should watch it! People say it's horror but really it's a family drama/suspense with some horror elements. And it's a bit less scary' after the first episode and really is one of the best shows ever, in my opinion.

Yes! These poor kids never stood a chance after living at Hill House, I think, but the wedding was so happy! Just made it all the more heartbreaking. We are so into this show! I hope we’re catching everything haha

Couldn’t agree more with this whole comment! I don’t know if I even wrapped my head around how messed up it is while we watched it but it’s stuck with me since! Thank you so much!

Hi Aaron! I’d recommend watching the whole series in order. The writing is incredible and very intertwined so there’s a lot in this episode that won’t make sense without watching the entire thing. The series can be found on Netflix 😊

I've never seen this show. Does one need to watch previous episodes to enjoy or understand this one?

We've mostly seen the adult kids have troubled relationships with each other. But for Nell's wedding there were all there, genuinly happy to be together. Steve's wife was there. Even the father was there. Obviously Luke was sent away by Shirley, and I wonder if that was a catalyst for something. Arthur dying seems to have set off a chain of events since it caused Nell to spiral.
This episode, and the Luke episode, make me tear up still even after multiple viewings.
I commented in another episode that literally every detail and piece of dialogue is important. And pays off. I know this show is dense and of course I would never want to spoil anything but just wanted to reiterate that point.

I remember sitting in shock with my boyfriend after this episode. We ended up going out to get ice cream because we didn't want to go to bed terrified. Lol.

The whole concept of the Bent Neck Lady is probably the most terrifying thing I've ever had to process. I remember watching the episode for the first time and I had to take a break , I just couldn't do it. I felt like it was the fact that the "Bent Neck Lady" was foreshadowing her death this whole time. She's been seeing her death since she was little. That fucked me up honestly 🤧 Also the kids in this show man , the casting crew really stroke gold with the kids/adults lookalike 👌🏾 Can’t wait for episode 6 it’s one of my top 3 episodes of the show. Love the reaction ❤️
