Redraw
Added 2024-02-01 22:12:43 +0000 UTCI’ve been going through one of my periodic stretches of artist’s block, so I am trying to find ways to break out of it. I decided to go through some very old drawings that I was never happy with enough to share and redraw them as an exercise to break out of the indecision. This one is from about 5 or 6 years ago. Looking at it now I felt that her face was a little flat and lifeless, and the hatch rendering felt a little mannered to me, a little lifeless. I prefer drawing with a rougher “pencil” brush now rather than the clean ink nib brush I made, and I am trying when possible to do the hatching quickly and energetically. The redo is a lot better, I hope you will agree!
