He's not about creating weapons, that is just a means to an end, he's all about trying to understand the protomolecule. What he is seeing in that research is them grasping at straws trying to figure things out, but not really getting anywhere, and the price being torturing kids, and it gets to him. Strickland is all about the research and doesn't have a soul, like the comment about the kids playing, being good for drug intake lol. The General Secretary, whose name I can never remember has all the backbone of an ameoba lol. I hate Erinwright, but I have more respect for him though.
