2020-01-06 16:57:15 +0000 UTCDunno if the books go into it, but something that is only briefly touched on in the Avasarala storyline is that she's never had to run for office before, so that is a huge weakness for her. She might have never made it to the level of authority she has had in the show if she had to be elected to the job. She's not a particularly likable person and she's bristling at all the attempts to shape her public image. Of course you're losing. I guess maybe no one has the stones to tell her that to her face.
