'Born To Die' by Lana Del Rey Full Album Reaction

Comments

Just joined from YouTube, trying to watch the Lana reactions but after signing into vimeo I'm told "Private Video: Sorry, you don't have permission to watch." Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong haha

Hi, I really love seeing people's reaction listening to Lana's music for the first time. She is my number 1 female singer.as this is your first listen to a full album of Lana's discography, it's normal to have a lot of questions about her. However, if you get to her last album (Did You Know That There's A Tunnel Under Ocean BLVD) you will get all the answers about her personal life and how she struggles with fame and the music industry. SURE YOU ARE WELCOME TO JOIN THE CULT OF QUEEN MOTHER LANA DEL REY!!

This album is awesome, I discovered Lana in 2012 on a random post in a website that was showing a list of top 10 singers that may blow up in the next years lol

I’ve also been a Lana fan since this first album years ago and I totally agree with that last sentence. They’re all so incredibly different while still feeling very *her.*

Ride is my favorite too. I personally like NFR the most of her newer albums if you’re looking for somewhere to start. 🙂

Never listened to Lana Del Rey before... and I got hooked into it from the very first song. Due to the way I interpreted some of the lyrics, I got teary eyed. Probably because of the way I interpret "other side" references most of the time. I think you give a lot in your reactions and I look forward to more albums, movies, and shows. Thank you.

Pls continue to react to the other albums :D

Loved the reaction. My first time hearing this album but somehow I think I am an expert on it now. 😆 Also the first music reaction I have ever watched.

Hello, Love music reactions so I figured I would jump in and say hi. Lana is such the voice that just so good and she knows it. Listening to music and just imagining the world around it is common for me and I would expect to others it is a common experience. Please consider including the music videos as well. It is interesting to see another artists take on that songs image.

Yesss to more music reactions! I also love that you're someone that focuses more on lyrics because I'm the exact same way.

Good taste with "Million Dollar Man." I like this album a lot, along with her Paradise EP which came out in 2012 (I love "Ride" from that). I'm realizing I don't really know/listen to her stuff beyond that. That seems ridiculous; I shall remedy that. Just saw she will be at a festival with Tegan & Sara among others kinda near me in October. If only I were cool enough these days to do that 😄

Lana is originally from from New York. She moved to California around the time this album came out. And you may have noticed several of the songs have writing credits for Elizabeth Grant, which is Lana’s real name. I think you’re absolutely right about the double meaning of Born to Die. Lana said it can be taken literally, but it’s also a metaphor for this relationship she had that she knew would end even as it was starting. There’s always a surface level meaning to Lana songs, but they often also have a deeper double meaning. Loving the Million Dollar Man appreciation. It’s one of my favorites off this album. It’s so sultry and soulful. I love the double meaning of the word broke in the song. Because her heart is broke, but broke also means poor, so if he’s a million dollar man she shouldn’t be broke. This is What Makes Us Gurls is such a perfect track to end this album. It adds a whole new layer to everything before it and it makes you re-examine what you’ve already heard. And she was sent to boarding school because she had a serious issue with alcohol and she doesn’t drink anymore. Sorry if this was a little all over the place, I was writing as I was watching and I wanted to answer some of your questions. Anyway, I loved this. I’d definitely be interested to see your thoughts on the rest of her albums. I’ve been a fan of Lana since this came out. It’s been very interesting watching her career develop and seeing where she goes with her music. I think you’ll enjoy her discography. Her albums all kind of have their own personality and sound, but they are all very Lana if that makes sense.

Other good lyrical artist (the Nationals) and a lesser known one (Keaton Henson ). Sweetheart what have you done sample lyrics- “If all you wanted was songs for you, Here goes, after all you put me through , here’s one for you.

Sean Stuart

Her most popular song not on this album is probably Young and Beautiful back in 2013-14 when doing longer wedding videos for couples this was a popular song request for film.

1 I think Carmen is a mix between being about herself and stories that she has heard in the business but I guess we don’t really know 2 Lana was sent to boarding school as a teenager for her drinking so I think that explains some of her lyrics 3 I would love to see you react to her live performances, especially of Million Dollar Man!!
