The demon Eyghon was nothing more than a tool for a purpose, to create a situation in which Giles had to deal (aka reveal to us) with his past, and face the consequences of his actions and decisions. Will what happened in this episode affect events in future episodes, and stories? Of course, in many different ways, like the events in so many other past episodes will, but the demon itself? Why? Its function in the story at this point is done. The point that the story reminds us is that decisions, good and bad, have consequences, and sooner or later the characters will have to face them, and considering that is BTVS we are talking about, these consequences will rarely be pleasant.

The demon inside Angel was defending it's home turf giving it the edge to defeat the attempted take over by Eygon.

I was going to mention that about Joan, from two of my favorites- School of Rock and My Blue Heaven.

I'm lying on a white beach of a small unpopulated island in the Caribbean. Sweet rum drink in hand. No sounds except the gentle waves and a slight breeze that slowly rocks the sail boat anchored right off shore that I arrived on.

For the lore of the demon Eygon, it can possess a dead or unconscious body. Giles' friends in the beginning were both dead, while Jenny was unconscious. Angel defeated eyghon by having the demon jump into his "dead body" with the vampire in him fought eyghon over angel's body

Cassie's and Giles samesies with their little notepads full of names 😏

React to comments please! Loved that. Those of us on Patreon can see where you start the show if they want to skip it, it can be cut out of YT edits, it means alot to those who participate and communicate. I was so fascinated and want you to do this channel how you want, and if this is the way, I'm all for it, because to me it worked well.

You don't know who John Gusack is? God I feel old.

My anywhere but here is identical to yours except that I would be living in a mountain chateau and would have cats instead of a dog. I really love Giles centered episodes and wish there were more of them. I was 36 when Buffy first aired and had teenagers of my own so Giles is the character I identify with the most. It's also the reason I was never fully on board for the Buffy/Angel relationship. As a father of teen girls at that time it just seemed so predatory to me that a 240 year old was dating a 16 year old.

Looks like the only thing missed (which may have already been caught on to) was that Ethan removed his tattoo too... via sulfuric acid.

You basically got it yeah. Eighon jumped into Angel's body sensing that it was dead only to find it actually already occupied by it's own demon, at which point they duked it out inside Angel with Angel's demon side standing victorious at the end. I think we're supposed to get that it's dead and dealt with. But you're right, that little shit disturber Ethan is still out there somewhere. As far as Ethan goes there's a single line in "Halloween" from Giles about "worshipping chaos." So I think he's just someone that never really grew out of that phase, he's just out here living his best life being a bit of sarcastic dick (albeit a funny one) and fuckin' shit up just for funsies πŸ˜† The last couple episodes are low-key some of my season 2 personal favourites. There are others I'd probably rank higher but these are just ...solid. Lots of really good character building stuff here. Many of both our heroes and villains seem capable of both good and less good behaviour and I think it's a sign of good storytelling that really causes us to see them as realistic and become much more attached to them. I'm going to be fascinated to watch you break down all their motivations etc as we go along. Cheers until next timeπŸ‘

Always thought this was a pretty underrated episode

John Cusack is a pretty famous actor. He was in Say Anything, High Fedelity, Serendipity, Con Air, Runaway Jury and (my personal favorite) Martian Child. Anywhere but here- San Diego Comic-Con sans Hollywood strike.

I hope you had a great Birthday vacation!
