I said Children of Men too. My all-time favourite. That said, I didn't even think of Kung Fu Hustle—that would be a hilarious reaction. Not at all something I'd have thought of but I wouldn't pass up that for a watch :P

I recommended a lot of movies now...but I have to go with Parasite. It's a south korean movie and the only foreign language film that has ever won best picture at the oscars - this year. (I don't always care about oscars but this time they actually gave it to the right movie so I have to mention it! - Good job, Oscars! 😂) It's a drama/thriller/satire about the struggle between rich and poor and everyone should see it. Also you're someone who doesn't mind subtitles. So you'll enjoy it. 😘

How about some crazy, ridiculous older movies, for example the french movie Dobermann which introduced me to Vincent Cassel & Monica Belluci before they came to Hollywood (it also has the always great Tchéky Karyo). Or Perdita Durango, which introduced me to Javier Bardem, it also has Rosie Perez, James Gandolfini and Demián Bichir.

Hey Jimmy, lots of good recommendations above. To pick one a bit out of left field, there's an animated movie called "Your Name" that kind of blew my mind in more ways than one. Each frame is hand drawn (and beautifully), the music was composed based on the scenes so that's on point too, and the story took a turn that I didn't expect and pushed the movie to at least a 9/10 for me. I don't really watch animated films so this next statement doesn't really have much weight but: it's the best animated film I've ever seen, sure you'd enjoy it.

Unexpected new tier, Jimmy! Very cool. - Master & Commander: The Far Side of the World (badass Napoleonic era naval war movie based on a 20+ book series about the characters) - Children of Men (beautifully shot post-apocalyptic adventure based loosely on the story beats of Casablanca) - The Raid (modern martial arts classic) - Clue (my favorite comedy ever; a star ensemble cast of the 80s plays the silly characters and solve the whodunnit, based on the boardgame) - Big Trouble in Little China (Kurt Russell in a hilarious campy action/comedy about an overconfident trucker getting involved in a magical evil plot) - Kung Fu Hustle (basically a live action loony tunes cartoon had a baby with a kung fu movie, directed by and starring Stephen Chow, director/star of similar prior film Shaolin Soccer) - A Stir of Echoes (excellent small scale ghost/horror/mystery movie starring Kevin Bacon that is lesser known on my opinion only because it came out same month as The Sixth Sense) - Scott Pilgrim v. The World (comedy manga adventure as Michael Cera has some legitimately badass and funny fights with a string of his new crush's ex partners)
