Jimmy's 100% correct on Independence Day. Again, I'll let the late great Patrice O'Neal put it best: "Right up to the Statue of Liberty laying their raped... TREMENDOUS movie. Then it just got corny."

The main char who beheaded him acted as his "second", this is only offered to enemies they respect. Obviously stabbing and gutting yourself hurts like hell, so the second is there to kill you instantly so that you don't dishonor your brave act by crying or begging while dying.
