I like how Jack is actually low key trying to keep the casualties to a minimum. He told Norrington to go back to the Dauntless so they could slow down the pirates who he had hoped would come out of the cave via rowboat and there easily spotted by the Navy. so that would gave Jack a chance to save Will and lift the curse so the navy could actually defeat the pirates and he could kill Barbossa. Jack never meant for the navy men to go out like that. Also saving Elizabeth was very telling of his character I think. He knew it would put himself at risk of being captured and hung, but he couldn't let her die even if he had no possible way of knowing whom she was at the time... I just love his character

2024-05-03 05:56:41 +0000 UTCI think I read online once, that other options the studio had in mind for Jack Sparrow included, Steve Martin, and Robin Williams. I personally like to imagine what this series would be like with Bernie Mac instead of Johnny Depp.

But I'm happy he recognized that Norrington is not a villain. I always get annoyed when people hate on him just because they want Elizabeth and Will together. I too like this couple a lot but like Elizabeth said herself: Norrington would also be a fine match 😀

Old Disney released some bangers and pirates of the Caribbean will always be iconic. Besides, it just makes me miss Black Sails. Speaking of, I know you’ve probably said this a million times already Jimmy but are there still ways to watch all your reactions to it or are they blocked eternally? 🥺

And Elizabeth saved herself and many others several times. (burning the rum was very smart). And Norrington is also very likable. Just because he is Will's competition doesn't make him a villain. He's actually a very honorable man who cares deeply for Elizabeth. Let's not forget that that he was willing to jump after Elizabeth after she fell in the water.

It's actually sad that he went through all of this just so he could feel something and then the first and last thing he feels is cold. My favorite part are the scenes between Barbossa and Jack. They are great together. Was the fight scene at the end a bit long? Maybe. But I didn't mind because I enjoy the chemistry and dialogue between these two so much. And also the sword fighing and choreography is amazing.

2024-05-01 13:29:20 +0000 UTCA ship or a boat is constantly shaking a bit so Jack is walking as if he is on a ship. Like he constantly has to balance himself. Even when he's on land. That's why it looks like that. I believe it's called sea legs (?) But you're right he'd make a good runway model. 🤣

2024-05-01 11:14:05 +0000 UTCThe first scene of Captain Jack Sparrow is actually one of the greatest character introductions I have ever seen. It tells you everything you need to know about him. Your comment "I thought he was supposed to be a bigger deal" was perfect because that's exactly what you're supposed to think. The sinking boat might be unfortunate - but he always makes it work somehow. What makes Jack so great is that Johnny Depp created something completely unique. You really can't compare Jack to any other character. There have been attempts to imitate it, even Johnny himself tried it in some of his other movies. But nothing comes close. Disney took a risk back then, they didn't plan the character like that, Johnny just decided to play him like that. It really was a risky choice because it could either make the movie great or ruin it entirely. But it worked and till this day Jack is one of my favorite characters of all time.
