Oh absolutely! Shirley’s just is often hard for ppl to swallow bc of the moral grandstanding. Shirley is my favourite lmao which a lot of ppl don’t agree with.

2024-11-12 10:21:43 +0000 UTCI know cheating is considered to be particularly egregious by most, but I don't find Shirley's affair to be any worse than Steve letting his wife believe that she was unable to have children for who knows how long or Luke repeatedly lying to and stealing from his family. They were all flawed to one degree or another and I sympathized with all of them. That said, if Kevin dumped her I wouldn't judge him.

2024-11-12 05:41:27 +0000 UTCThe first viewing of this show is always special, but it truly is something with so much rewatch value. When you see how everything fits together...it's A+. And that ending is so bittersweet and lovely at the same time, no shame in admitting it always gets me teary. Hugh and Nellie may be with Liv in the house, but they'll never be with the others again, never have the chance to truly rebuild those relationships. But cracks were still mended, and the rest of the Craine family gets to go on, and try to move forward together.

2024-11-12 02:14:14 +0000 UTCI think Shirley, like all of them, is deeply flawed, and rewatches do a lot to add to the way she reacts to certain things. Like, she sees the guy she cheated with "haunting" her all the way back in like the first episode or something (which is another great example of how the ghosts in this show aren't always actual ghosts - people are haunted by a lot of things). And she holds herself to a high standard while also knowing that she is a hypocrite and self-righteous, but she feels like she has to maintain that image.

2024-11-12 00:17:05 +0000 UTCNo, it wasn't filmed. The day before they were going to film it, Mike Flannigan woke up in the morning and decided it felt wrong. That the Craines had already been through so much, and it would have felt needlessly cruel. And I tend to agree - I think the bittersweet ending we have is incredibly moving and lovely.

And to me the actor doing that deep breath and second hand to hold her as she mentioned the convention made me feel like Kevin already knew (or deeply suspected). Shirley is a hypocrite, self righteous, and a moral perfectionist - I understand a lot of her reactionary tantrums and projections so I will always like Shirley, but yeah the cheating... the cheating... i hate cheating plots

In his original rendition of the ending, none of the Crains made it out of the house. It was even filmed, lmao. (This fact is quickly becoming the new "did you know aragorn actually broke his toe!")
