Maria was a wrestling champion on her country (Mexico), she loved the show, to be under the spotlights, facing fighters as strong or stronger than her, and the crowds screaming for her victory or chanting when she was gonna do a special move.

A professional wrestler and one of the best on the game.

A Company from another Country absorbed the league where she was the champion and things changed really fast, new wrestlers with less talent, more rigged fights paid from the sponsors that totally ruined the show and some young female fighters who had to make their new bosses "favors" to get a good fight scheduled.

Maria was asked for the new administration to lose the tournament to a novice fighter, daughter of one of the new commercial partners of the league. 

But she couldnt betray her fans  losing to someone who didn't love wrestling as much as her.

After Kicking the boss daughter's ass on the ring she also found out that there was a really big bet on that rigged fight and made a lot of dangerous people lose their money, helped by her fans, she had to flee from her country  to the USA ilegally with her little sister Mercedes  and start from zero.

she lived  a hard but peaceful life on a new country with her sister, getting a job at a bar and saving for starting her own business, Sadly it was just the beggining part of her problems 2 years later, the people from the cartels that lost a lot of money from the rigged fight she refused to lose, found her new home, and took her sister as a hostage. telling Maria that she need to pay them an incredible sum of money. Whwn she told em that it was impossible for her with her actual job, the goons gave her an invitation to an underground tournament that pays better than any league or TV wrestling show.
