Iris "Stretch" - Preview

Basically I was a bit "stuck" in the drawing I was going to make this month, since the idea wasn't really working. So I'll have to get back to the "drawing board" on it to make sure the image is on the quality you guys are used to.
Since this drawing of Iris was already planned for next month, I decided to switch things around and paint this one instead.
Also, apparently Maya stole Iris's thunder of best mermaid, so it's only fair that Iris borrows the "sunny morning" theme from Maya's "Lazy" from a few months ago =D
And I wanted to paint Iris in white lingerie, stretching/messing with her hair, against the sun light. =D
Hope you guys don't mind the slight change of plans, and like this one as well!

Thanks! It was definitely an interesting idea to work with. It was one of those cases that I knew exactly what I wanted, so it was much easier to execute it =D

2021-05-26 17:16:43 +0000 UTCI'm glad it all worked out in the end. It's rare for me to get "stuck" in an image but sometimes it just happens. So I think it's better to be able to re-adjust than to create something subpar.

But a very, very welcome one! π»π»π»π»π» Something that immediately strikes me that I really like are the tones in this piece, with Iris' skin and hair being quite dark and really popping against the white background, with her own little white clothes then contrasting with her. And with the lighting that you already have in place, I just love the thin white edge-lighting on her arm, face and neck, showing off the overlap between those areas. The similar lighting on her waist and thighs is very nice too, accentuating the shapes there very well. And of course the pose is just so sensual and beautiful! I love how her hair spreads out with this overall curl to it and a nice sense of weight as it falls, giving this sense of motion to her. While her own pose looks wonderful with the profile view of her face as she leans back with this alluring expression, with a subtle twist to her body as it slightly angles towards us. The arch in her back is lovely and I like how it makes her push out her chest while also elongating her stomach, I also love the long curving contour of her left thigh, as well as the foreshortening of the other leg. The asymmetry of the arms is really nice too and I really like her lower arm with how the wrist bends backwards with the bending, closing shapes of her fingers. Absolutely beautiful work so far! I can't wait to see the fully finished version, already it's so sensual and the lighting/colours look positively heavenly! πππππππππππππππππππππππππ

And it's definitely better in the long run to improve an idea and get it right than it is to try and force something out, which always leads to a suboptimal result in the end-- which then feels even worse, because you know you could have done better. Which is a long-winded way of saying, by all means take your time! Your stuff is always worth the wait.
