Well first of all, Maya has never had a confirmed sexual orientation. It's a newer character and we've only seen her in context with Iris. And 2nd, I'm pretty sure most of the NSFW art online today is lesbian and this is even being memed at all the time. From what I'm noticing with most of the feedback, he hasn't ruined the connection for most of us at all, quite the opposite. it's important to keep in mind that there will be images of Iris and Maya that will be different. At the end of the day they are characters, and I like to be able to explore different things with them. - there's the "main timeline" where they are neighbors and met by the pool etc but there's also "alternative universes" versions: - we had them as mermaids - or star wars characters - now they were painted as vampires - Iris was also painted themed after chinese new year in the past - I had plans to make them as fantasy characters for fun not everything is meant to be so cut and dry like "oh this is a new character, the pizza delivery guy and this is going to happen etc!!!". It's quite simple a "what if we had Iris and Maya having a threesome". In this one they are actually vampires, (the previous hallowen images they were dressed up as characters, hence why they were taking selfies etc). If you don't like, simply consider it as a "spin-off".

That artwork was ages ago before Maya was introduced, and since then it's just been the two of them so you can see why this is a surprise. If the goal is to add variety, then have them in a threesome with another woman with a strap; if the goal is a FFM artwork there's literally thousands of other female characters to use for a voyeur artwork to that effect.
