Date night!

I wanted to focus more on them and not have a lot of things going on in the background which would only serve to add noise. So I wanted to make sure I got the expressions right, having Iris a bit mesmerized by Maya (since in the past we always had her going after Iris).
Also I wanted to play a bit with that leg rubbing, shy touch and those types of thing that happen on first dates, when both are kinda on "discovering" each other.
So I hope you guys like it!

I often check a lot of references before painting this type of image, so I found a few clips of girls dating in movies/series and checked how they act and things like that. many times videos/gifs can be really usefull to "paint the picture" of the scene. Static images are often posed, while a video can often show small details like when the character blink, where it looks, if there's a lip bite, what happen with the face when the touch occurs. It really helps to capture those subconscious details on how a scene happens.

As I said before with the unfinished version, this whole moment is so unexpectedly heartwarming; unexpected in the sense that this isn't a typically "wholesome and heartwarming" kind of scenario (like, say, the mistletoe encounter was), but given the history of these characters that you've built up over the last several months, this feels like the payoff in the back half of a novel when the two lead characters have finally turned the corner and gotten together. I especially love the almost cautious optimism in Maya's eyes and expression, like she's wondering to herself if this could possibly be going as well as it is, considering Iris's obvious interest in her at the moment. Lovely stuff!

You made it feel like the only thing in the world that mattered were the ladies of the hour. 2, do you consult or observe how these kind of interactions go, does this come with experience, or was this entirely your imagination? I wonder because there a re a ton of small mannerisms that would likely be subconscious. 3, this is going to be my main pc wallpaper. Heh. Fangtastic job!
