Guadalajara's Cruise Bars: One to Skip, One to Strip 😉

If you’ve been following along, you know we love checking out the gay nightlife everywhere we go — and Guadalajara, aka Gaydalajara, is no exception. Last week we teased that we tried both of the city’s most popular cruise bars: one was a total miss, and the other? Let’s just say we’d happily strip down there any Sunday night.

🚫 Voltio Bar: A Smoky Miss

Let’s start with Voltio. Wednesdays are billed as show nights — admission is 170 pesos (about $9 USD) with a beer. You pay downstairs and head up to a long bar with a stage, a handful of tables, and a surprisingly huge cruising maze behind it. Think red lights, traffic cones, couches, and a pitch-dark maze. The crowd? A bit sparse midweek even during Pride. The drag queen started an hour late with strippers following. We’ll give them credit for space, but between the chain-smoking inside and the late, late start, we left unimpressed.

✅ Club 183: Ring, Strip, Repeat

Now for the real winner: Club 183. This place is discreet — no sign out front, just a buzzer at number 183 on a quiet street. Intimidating? Maybe. But once you ring and get welcomed in, the staff are incredibly friendly, speak English, and explain everything.

Here’s how it goes: you choose a 4-digit “number” for your tab (can be anything), you pay the 170-peso cover (includes a beer and clothes check), and you’re in. The main bar has a stage, comfy seating, and a respectful, mostly younger crowd. From there, a long hallway leads to multiple semi-private rooms with curtain “doors,” plus showers at the back (though no one was using them).

What we loved:

✨ Free condoms at the entrance (bring your own lube though)
✨ Welcoming, English-speaking staff
✨ Sexy interactive shows midweek (yes, the bartender literally invited Andy to join in 😏)
✨ A nudist mandatory party every Sunday from 6–10pm — already buzzing by 7pm

Honestly, we’d come back to Club 183 any time over Voltio. The vibe was respectful but still super fun, the drinks were strong, and it felt safe and sexy without the intimidation factor once you’re inside.

If you only have one night to dip into Guadalajara’s cruise bar scene, skip Voltio and head straight to Club 183. Just ring the bell, check your clothes, and let the fun begin. We’d never send you somewhere we didn’t feel welcome and safe, and Club 183 nailed it.
