Ezekiel’s experiment regarding showing something delicious to motivate Robert, Luke, and Simon was a success. It cost him 20 copper coins, but he thought that it was worth it. When the lesson concluded, everyone ate the dinner that he had prepared, but he warned the boys to leave a space in their stomach for the donuts but everyone still ate a lot.
After their meal, the four of them joyfully ate the donuts, but Ezekiel allowed everyone to be active so the meal would be digested. The boys played on the second floor while Simon assisted Ezekiel in creating the small wooden stool that he started crafting in the first floor.
He would probably create a lot of wooden stools as practice, and since they’re just normal things, he would just leave them by the wayside. Maybe travelers would pick them up.
The main reason he chose a stool was because he wanted to get used to creating something like it then he would graduate to creating chairs. Then he would copy the elaborate ones that he saw over the internet, and once he mastered them, he could copy them effortlessly using his Fabricate spell.
“Kel, why are you crafting a stool? Can’t you just use your magic to create one?” Simon said and Ezekiel was glad that the man remembered to call him by his nickname.
“The specific magic spell that I’m using to create the things I’m going to sell to earn gold coins needed me to have mastery over the things that I’m going to be conjuring. Some of the things that I conjured is a specific spell that creates that specific thing like this house that we’re staying in,” Ezekiel absently answered.
He didn’t know if their pretend guardian would understand his explanation, but it was still a good thing to teach Simon some of the things that he would be doing. He did elaborate some more.
“The reason why I chose wood crafting is because the materials can easily be found in the forest, and no one is going to be interested in harming children who craft wooden things.”
“Why do you worry about someone harming you or your brothers? You can just magic them to death,” Simon said.
“I decided before we started our journey that I will lie low at first. I don’t really know the magic situation in these lands and I don’t want to be enslaved by a more powerful wizard than me.”
“I don’t know about magic, but ever since I was little, we’ve only heard about stories but no one told me that they actually met a person who can do magic the same way you can do magic,” Simon said.
“I know. We’ve been traveling for weeks and the only magical thing that me, Robert, and Luke encountered was the haunted mansion in one of the villages that we passed through. It was filled with monsters, and we ran since I felt back then that there was an extremely powerful monster that I couldn’t defeat. Of course, it’s different now, but my current attitude was to lie low and not show my ability to others as long as I could and would only do so if we’re in danger,” Ezekiel said to their new pretend guardian.
After he completed the stool, which just took Ezekiel about an hour, they both returned to the second floor, and he told his brothers that it was time to rest. He then asked Simon to retrieve one of the sleeping bags that he had bought before that was stored in the cart.
While Simon was gone, Ezekiel thought of making Prince Charming’s stable a two-story building, and the second floor would be Simon’s bedroom, but he remembered that Simon was also interested in the bedtime stories that he was telling his brothers, and he couldn’t deprive the man-boy of listening to those stories.
After everyone was prepared to go to bed, Ezekiel told his brothers that they would not be reading the One Piece manga that night and would continue reading from the book of fairytales that he downloaded from the internet.
That night, Ezekiel chose the fairy tale The Elves and The Shoemaker. His decision was prompted a little by his projects of creating wooden arts and crafts. Even before the story ended, Ezekiel was amused to see that Robert, Luke, and Simon were already asleep. He was happy to see smiles on his brothers’ faces, and even Simon was sporting a smile in his sleep.
The next day, after breakfast, Ezekiel told everyone that they would stay in that location until lunchtime.
“Why?” Robert asked and Luke didn’t care and just continued eating.
“I want to ask Simon to hunt game for us that I can cook for our meals. He will be using the crossbow and would be bringing a sword with him. Not only that, Yuki Onna will be with him as well as several of the knives bodyguards so he should be safe,” Ezekiel answered.
When Ezekiel asked Simon if he was ready to venture into the forest, their guardian excitedly said that he was, so he went outside the tower, followed by the knives awakened by the Tiny Servant spell. He asked Simon not to venture too far so that the knives could follow him, and the man said that he wouldn’t.
Ezekiel would also be notified by Yuki Onna in case something happened to Simon. He did cast the Mage Armor spell on all of them for added protection.
Once Simon was gone, he told the boys that he would be crafting some wooden items on the first floor, and Robert and Luke just said “Okay” and that they would be playing on the second and third floors.
His brothers did ask permission to play in the water and Ezekiel agreed. He did not want to restrict his brothers too much, and if they contracted a cold or something from playing in the water, he could cure them using the Healing Elixir spell.
After a couple of hours tinkering in the kitchen-turned-woodshop, Robert and Looked barged in from upstairs yelling that they were hungry, so the three of them ate food that Ezekiel retrieved from his 4th tab space.
After that, the boys went upstairs to continue playing with their toys, and Ezekiel returned to his work. After he had made a couple of stools earlier, he was now making a small chair. It was a simple one since he wanted to master the basics before attempting the more elaborate ones.
The chair that he was making was similar to the chairs that they were using inside the cart. It was smaller, so it mostly looked like it was made for children, but adults should still be able to use them.
Once he graduated from making chairs, Ezekiel would then turn his attention to making a table. Unfortunately, most of the things that he was making would be left behind in the forest since they simply didn’t have enough space to store the substandard things that he crafted. They’re all made of wood anyway, so he thought that it was fine just to leave them in the forest since the forest would just claim them.
At around noon, Simon returned and he was carrying an impressive amount of game. There were three huge rabbits, one deer, and one boar. Since Ezekiel knew that Simon was hungry, they all ate lunch first then he asked Simon if he knew how to butcher game.
Simon looked at Ezekiel as if he were asking the man why the sky was blue. Apparently, everyone knew how to butcher animals since they were a part of everyone’s diet. Everyone learned how to butcher animals at a young age, and even the previous Ezekiel probably knew how.
He then asked Simon to butcher the animals based on the recipe that he found over the internet then he stored the skinned and cut-up animals in his 4th tab space. After that, he asked Simon to take a quick bath so they could leave.
At first, it took time for them to prepare to leave, so it was already around two in the afternoon when they left.
While Simon was driving the cart, he told Ezekiel the process of his hunting and said that he really liked the crossbow. The man also told him that the walking butcher knives helped him in subduing the boar.
“Tomorrow, you can hunt again, and you can leave earlier as soon as it’s light enough for you to see. I’ll pack your breakfast and snacks so you can eat on the way, but you would need to return before lunch so we can leave earlier,” Ezekiel said, and Simon nodded.
Robert and Luke continued playing in the cart while Simon added some more details on his lesson plan that he had made for his brothers and Simon. To be honest, the benefit of teaching the boys was allowing Ezekiel to learn as well.
After he was done with the lesson plan, Ezekiel reviewed the contents of his 4th tab space and the coins that he had saved. He needed to formalize a plan that they would use once they reached a populated place and that took the majority of his time before Simon found a place where they Ezekiel could cast his Galder’s Towers.
