Ezekiel read the book of illustrated book of One Piece characters with Robert and Luke until his two brothers were asleep then he put the book on the bedside table. He wasn’t sleepy yet so he reviewed the spells that he had since starting tomorrow, he would practice his spell casting.
He focused his attention on the cantrips spells that he already purchased. There were 6 of them which were Prestidigitation, Fire Bolt, Mending, Minor Illusion, Mage Hands, and Lights. His system page where he could purchase spells had a total of 33 cantrips. The page was based on the DnD website that he saved on the browser that he downloaded that followed him into this world, which was the website DnD5e.com Wizard Spell List.
He tried searching for the website using the first tab where he could search sites and he could find dnd5e.com on the list but when he clicked it, his system browser would just go to the next tab which was the page where he could purchase his spells. From what he remembered, it was exactly the same as the original page and the only difference was that there was a “buy” button beside the spell, and if he already purchased the spell, the “buy” button would simply disappear.
So that meant that his system browser would always only have four tabs. The 1st tab which contained the search field and the general information about his system, the 2nd tab which contained the dnd5e.com wizard spell list site where he could purchase spells, the 3rd tab which contained the system shopping site, and the 4th tab which was his inventory. If he used it to search websites like going to a streaming video site, it would open on the first tab. The same with the spell list. If he clicked a link to read information about a spell, it would open the page on the same tab but at least he could hit home and it would go back to the original page. It wouldn’t add any more tabs. It wasn’t very important in Ezekiel’s opinion but was just a bit peculiar. At the very list, the 1st tab still functioned as a regular search engine and that meant that he had access to all the knowledge on Earth that could be accessed over the Internet.
Since he already purchased 6 cantrip spells, if Ezekiel wanted to purchase the rest which was the remaining 27 spells, it would only cost him 13 silver and 50 copper coins. Since the amount was small enough, he decided to just go ahead and purchase all of the Cantrip Spells so he excitedly did just that. Now he could use all the cantrip spells from his system site.
While reviewing all the cantrip spells that he purchased, Ezekiel was a bit apprehensive since during battle, it would not be easier to swap spells since there was already a long list of spells. Now it’s truly important to practice his spell casting because he could not afford to be indecisive amid battle.
He then turned his attention to the level 1 spells. He already purchased 7 level 1 spells and those were Healing Elixir, Mage Armor, Magic Missile, Alarm, Tenser’s Floating Disk, Sleep, and Find Familiar. The system site had a total of 52 level 1 spells and if he wanted to purchase all of the rest of the level 1 spells he had to spend 45 silver coins which was still affordable so he purchased the remaining level 1 spells.
Ezekiel was feeling excited since now his list of spells that he could use was robust but he truly did need to practice them.
Looking at the price of the 2nd level spells which was 5 silver coins each, Ezekiel decided to stop his shopping spree and revisit the idea of purchasing all of them once he had more gold coins since if he did purchase all of the 2nd level spells, it would cost him 3 gold and 40 silver coins since there was a total of 70 level 2 spells and he only purchased 2 of them which were Arcane Lock and Gust of Wind.
He reviewed his total gold coins. His general coins remaining were 10 gold 33 silver and tens of copper coins. His woodcraft funds which he separated from his general coins were 3 gold and 50 silver coins and he had a total of 20 silver coins of wood arts and crafts inventory that he had yet to sell.
Ezekiel could still afford to purchase all of the 2nd level spells but he wasn’t comfortable allowing himself to have few coins since he did not want himself and his brothers to experience hunger ever again.
Besides, if he moved forward with his plan of selling very valuable spices in some of the larger towns and then leaving after a day, Ezekiel should be able to gather more coins, then he could purchase all of the remaining spells.
Ezekiel really did need the coins because the level 3 spells cost 20 silver coins each and the level 4 spells which were very powerful would cost him 1 gold coin each and he could purchase them soon since his experience points to reach level 4 was already at 65 percent.
After reviewing his spells, Ezekiel joined his brother in their sleep. The next day, the three siblings woke up late at around 8 in the morning. After eating their breakfast and their vitamins, Robert and Luke clamored to play in the stream again but Ezekiel stopped them and cast the Mage Armor spell on the three of them. Then he awakened their toy ship and the ten butcher knives with the Tiny Servant spell and commanded the knives to guard his brothers.
Yuki Onna was also above the trees looking after everyone, making sure that nothing threatening would approach them without their knowing. Before the boys ran off to the water, Ezekiel asked them to drink some Healing Elixir that he conjured. He also drank some since he didn’t want the three of them to get sick even though he didn’t know if doing something like that would work since the Healing Elixir spell was supposed to be a cure not some kind of preventative medicine.
Since it wouldn’t cost him anything but some cooldown time, they drank the elixirs anyway. Even if it would not work to prevent them from getting sick, at least it would heal them of any underlying sickness that they already had and if they acquired sickness again, it wouldn’t stack and could easily be healed again. At least that was what Ezekiel was hoping. He was just glad that the elixirs didn’t taste bad and tasted just like water so his brothers were able to drink them without complaint.
Robert and Luke began frolicking in the water together with their toy ship and they were having tremendous fun. Ezekiel went beside their houses and found a small clearing where he could practice casting his spells and soon the air around him where filled with colorful magic.
When the boys saw that, they climbed out of the water, ran to where their towels were then wrapped in towels they went near Ezekiel to watch him casting his spells. Of course, Ezekiel was aware of his brothers' presence since Yuki Onna warned him. He made sure that his brothers would not be hit by any of the spells that he was casting.
Ezekiel was going through all of the cantrips spells first. Those that required a humanoid being to be targeted like the spell Message just fizzle out since he just kept targeting one of the trees or the area before it and soon the poor tree collapsed so he targeted a new one. He felt a little pity for the trees but since it was spring, the damage would be covered by new vegetation soon although, to be honest, he wasn’t sure about that since some of the spells were toxic like the Acid Splash spell.
Robert and Luke were clapping each time he cast a new spell. They were treating his spell casting as some sort of a show but Ezekiel didn’t mind and he enjoyed it as well. Having a receptive audience who cheered for him brought a large motivation in his spell practice but if he was being honest, he was very motivated already since feeling the magic coursing through his body and coming out from his hand to be brought into reality from his imagination made him feel like he was the most powerful being in the world and soon he was acting it out by laughing evilly every time he cast a spell to the delight of his brothers and they joined him in laughing while clapping their hands.
Ezekiel completed two rounds of casting all of the cantrip spells when he stopped for lunch good thing that the cantrip spells even placed on higher level spell slots only had a minute cooldown. At first, he was calling the cooldown based on the level of the slots but then when he noticed that the cooldown for the cantrip remained at 1 minute even placed at the 3rd level slot, he revisited the rules and reviewed it briefly. Of course, he read it before but he might have forgotten. It stated that cantrip spells had a 1-minute cooldown, 1st-level spells had a 2-minute cooldown, and so on with a 1-minute addition to the cooldown for every spell rank.
