TBE Chapter 74

Ezekiel and his two brothers enjoyed their lunch and after that Robert and Luke hurried to the stream again to continue playing in the water together with their toy ship. It was funny to see the toy ship running behind his brothers using its tiny legs while its hands where were making sure that the action figures were on top of it securely.

The two kids jumped on the water and began swimming around while laughing. Ezekiel watched them for several minutes to make sure that everything was fine but he did task Yuki Onna to carefully watch his brothers. It was also a comfort to see the ten butcher knives that were awakened by the Tiny Servant spell guarding the periphery for any dangerous animals that might enter the area. After observing his brothers and the general area, he went to the location where he was practicing his spellcasting and began practicing his level 1 spells.

The noise and the lights that came from his spell-casting probably startled his brothers since soon, Ezekiel noticed them watching him practice his spell-casting again while they cheered. At around 3 in the afternoon, he stopped his practice so they could eat snacks. He spent some copper coins to purchase sweet pastries from his system and the three siblings enjoyed the delicious snacks together with the cold mineral that was spelled to taste like Strawberry Milkshake. After that the boys jumped on the water again and Ezekiel went back to his spell-casting.

He had to admit that casting his spells actually taught him a lot of things. He now had a shallow understanding of some of the spells and he didn’t have to wonder what their effects would be but it would probably take a lot of practice for him to truly know the intricacies of his spells. Ezekiel did realize that he truly needed to practice them.

Soon the sun was beginning to set so he stopped his magic practice and called his brothers from the stream. When he saw them shivering, he scolded them and told them that they should have stopped playing in the water when they noticed that the water was beginning to get cold.

“But we didn’t notice it! We just noticed it now when you called us,” Robert said with a wronged face.

Ezekiel just sighed and the three siblings went to the washroom to shower briefly then he cast the Healing Elixir spell and told his brothers to drink the conjured vial which they obeyed immediately.

“One of our friend’s mother was very sick in one of the villages that we visited and we told him that you could heal his mother but he didn’t believe us. Thomas, our friend, said that if you can really heal people, we should have been very rich by now,” Robert said.

“What your friend said was true but that was also the reason why we ran away from Eagle Village. Since the three of us are very young and considered powerless, Mr. Duvon sold the information to a sick noble for a lot of coins that we have two healing elixirs left and that the healing elixir can cure anything. They planned to harm us so they could take the elixirs for themselves.”

“I don’t understand. You can get as many elixirs as you can,” Robert said while Luke was listening.

“They didn’t know that. I told them that we have a total of three Healing Elixir that were left to us by our father and mother. The three elixirs were supposed to be one for each of us but I sold one to Mr. Duvon. After a while, Mr. Duvon told me that he sold the information to the noble and wanted me to bring the elixirs to him but I’m guessing that he also had someone to deal with us and it was true since soon, we were followed by some of the men from the village to hurt us,” Ezekiel told to Robert the truth and he saw that his brother was suddenly filled with anger.

“I hate the people from our village! First, they were naughty towards us and now they wanted to steal our things! I want to kill them!” Robert shouted and even little Luke was angry.

Ezekiel knew that even though his brothers were young, they were not unaware of how unkind some of the villagers were towards them and the fact that even the old tutor who was one of the kindest they had encountered tried to harm them, anyone would be angry.

“The best thing that we can do right now is to forget about them and live our lives the best way possible and make sure that we’re happy. I think that’s the biggest revenge we can do,” Ezekiel told his brothers.

“Why didn’t you kill all of them? You’re very powerful!” Robert said.

“I did kill those who hunted us but I didn’t want to harm the other villagers. A lot of the people there were unaware of what Mr. Duvon had done and I don’t want to turn into a monster that kills at a small slight. The best thing a man can be is to be kind to others,” Ezekiel told his brothers gently and they nodded.

Ezekiel didn’t know if he had given the correct advice to his brothers since they were in a world that could be governed by the ideology that the strong make right. Right now they were under his protection so the three of them would live the best way he knew how which was still under the influence of the person he once was. A person from Earth who grew up in a peaceful nation and so far his experiences in this world had been still mild enough that his behavior hadn’t changed much yet.

He knew that it might change in the future but that was the problem of his future self.

After that serious conversation, Ezekiel purchased their dinner directly from his system shopping site spending a whopping 3 silver coins. He bought a whole rotisserie chicken, mashed potato, and more so that when everything was laid on their tiny table inside the bedroom house, it looked like a feast.

“Why did you purchase a lot of delicious food?” Robert asked.

“We’re on vacation! We’re supposed to enjoy ourselves and having a feast was part of that,” Ezekiel said and Luke laughed and began digging in.

Ezekiel and Robert joined Luke in demolishing the feast that he prepared and after an hour, the three siblings had very full stomachs. They to go the washroom to wash the smell of food from their hands and faces and after Ezekiel led his brothers to play actively for a bit so they could digest the food that they had eaten before going to sleep.

After a while though, his brothers requested that he continue telling them the stories of Luffy and the gang, so Ezekiel opened the last page of the manga that he had read them and continued from there. His brothers laughing at the scenes that he was describing motivated him to tell the story complete with exaggerated action. He tried his best to show off the action sequences using his arms but then soon he felt tired but their laughter was music to his ears so soldiered on.

Soon though, Robert and Luke were tired so he stopped and told his brothers to sleep.

The next day, the three of them woke up early. The sun was still not up yet but they slept early enough that they were earlier than the sun. Ezekiel announced that they were still staying in that place for one last day to the delight of Robert and Luke and after breakfast, they followed Ezekiel to the place where he was practicing his casting his spells. Ezekiel still planned to continue his magic practice that day but before he did, he renewed all the spells that needed to be renewed like the Galder’s Tower, the Tiny Servant, the Mage Armor for the three of them, and the Arcane Lock on their doors.

Since it was still very early, even though Robert and Luke wanted to swim in the stream, the temperature was still very cold so they opted to just watch the magic show.

Ezekiel had to admit that his magic practice was probably very entertaining to watch since the air was filled with different glowing lights and the sounds were startling, to say the least. The devastation that some of the spells caused was a little alarming though and there was already a very noticeable bald spot in the forest and this was just some of the level 1 spells. It would be more devastating once he started practicing the 2nd level spells as well as the more potent level 3 spells although, there were very few of those since he only purchased a limited number of them due to their cost.

Soon though, Robert and Luke left to start playing in the water and again, Ezekiel stopped briefly to observe his brothers to make sure they were safe and when he was assured that they were, he went back to practicing his magic.
