Ezekiel, his two brothers, and Simon spent several minutes in the washroom and when they were done, they went downstairs. Ezekiel retrieved food from his 4th tab space and they began eating. Simon ate particularly well and finished five bento boxes. The man kept exclaiming that it was the best food that he had eaten in his life and the man cried again which made Ezekiel sigh. The man was such a crybaby that he couldn’t truly fault Simon since even though he looked like he was in his mid-twenties, he was just a teenager and he had just been through a ringer.
Ezekiel thought that he might need to stop soon to cook a lot of food again since food was the one thing that he thought that he should be very generous for. After they were done eating, Ezekiel cleaned the bento boxes they used and stored them in his 4th tab space. He saw Simon staring at him again so he asked him why he was doing that.
“You can conjure things anytime you want?” Simon asked him timidly.
“I have a magical space where I can store things and the food that I prepared before will remain fresh there,” Ezekiel answered.
Ezekiel then asked everyone to exit the house and asked Simon to retrieve the cart together with Prince Charming from the stable. Simon encountered a problem though, he couldn’t enter the stable since Ezekiel forgot that the Arcane Lock that he cast on the doors would still prevent Simon from entering the Galder’s Towers.
He immediately dispelled the Arcane Lock spell and Simon led Prince Charming outside then he pulled the cart next.
After that, Robert and Luke helped Ezekiel in retrieving all the things they needed to put in the cart like the backpacks, and the box that contained their toiletries. He then dispelled the Galder’s Towers which made Simon gaped again.
“Simon if you keep gaping every time I cast a spell, you will be gaping all day,” Ezekiel told the man exasperatedly which caused Robert and Luke to laugh.
“I’m sorry, Sir. It’s just that this is the first time I’ve seen an actual, real magic. There were stories but I really couldn’t imagine what magic looked like and now I see you making them all the time,” Simon replied.
“Don’t call me sir. Call me Kel, and this is Robert and Luke. Remember, we’re your nephews and you’re our Uncle Simon,” Ezekiel said and Simon nodded.
Ezekiel then told Simon to narrow his eyes and not look at everyone wide-eyed since it would show his inexperience. He also told Simon to look everyone in the eye when talking to them and not look at his feet. Simon kept nodding at him looking like a chicken. He inspected Simon and the man still looked like your typical uneducated villager so Ezekiel spent a silver coin and purchased a thick cloak with a hood from his system shopping site and asked the man to wear it. He then instructed Simon to pull up the hood of the green cloak to partially cover his face and that improved Simon’s look making him look like some sort of a ranger and someone who could take care of three children.
Ezekiel said that it was better but he knew that it was going to be a work in progress. They did have time while they were on the road so he knew that by the time they arrived at the next village, Simon should be able to act as their guardian better. Ezekiel then made sure to remove all of their traces in the place then they began their journey on the road.
Robert and Luke still stayed inside the cart sitting on the chairs that Ezekiel purchased while they played with the toys that they placed on the table. He sat beside Simon who was now the one driving the cart. He did have to admonish Simon when the man used the reins to drive Prince Charming faster.
“Don’t whip Prince Charming with the reins! Allow him to walk at his own pace.”
“Uum, that will cause us to move very slowly though,” Simon mumbled.
“Don’t mumble and speak loudly and with more authority. You need to be believable acting as our guardian. We don’t need to hurry up Prince Charming since we’re not in a hurry. Let’s just enjoy the road since the moment the sun goes down, I can conjure us a nice house where we can rest and have plenty of delicious food.”
Simon looked excited when Ezekiel mentioned the magical house and the delicious food. He then observed Simon and although the man now looked capable because of the nice clothes and the green cloak with the hood on his head, Simon needed to have weapons.
“Did you have any weapon when you were with the bandits?” Ezekiel asked.
“No, Kel. The bandits thought that since I don’t know how to use a sword, I don’t need to carry one.”
Ezekiel then commanded Yuki Onna to go to where the bandits’ corpses were and retrieved a sword there soon his Familiar arrived carrying a sword in its talons.
Simon looked afraid when he saw Yuki Onna especially when he noticed the Snowy Owl was carrying a sword.
“Don’t be afraid. Remember to act bravely since you’re our guardian. The owl is called Yuki Onna and he’s my Familiar. I can use it to do simple things like retrieve things for me, guard my brothers, and even use its eyes and ears as my own. That’s also the reason why no one will be able to approach our cart without me knowing about it since Yuki Onna would make sure to patrol around us. It will notify me if something dangerous comes near us. I asked it to retrieve a sword from one of the bandits so you will have a weapon for show. Do you see that crossbow? That’s my crossbow that I was using as some sort of a deterrent to low lives in the villages. Later when we stop, you will practice using the sword and crossbow, do you understand?”
“Yes, Kell,” Simon said loudly and Ezekiel nodded at the man approvingly when Simon answered straightly.
Yuki Onna went back to flying in the sky when it left the sword with the butcher knives that were on the floor of the cart. Ezekiel had to admonish his brothers to not go near the sword since it was dangerous and when he noticed how dirty the sword was, he immediately cleaned it using his Prestidigitation spell.
Since Simon was now the one driving the cart, Ezekiel could now concentrate on his system. He started reading the list of the level 4 spells but he noticed Simon kept looking back at his brothers and when followed Simonn’s eyes, the man was looking at the moving toy ship that Robert and Luke were playing with.
“What’s the problem?” Ezekiel asked.
“That…toy boat is moving. It has hands and feet!” Simon gasped.
“Yes. I awakened it using my magic. Do you see those ten butcher knives there? I also awakened them and they could move as well. They’re our bodyguards and they were actually the ones who killed the bandits,” Ezekiel said to Simon and the inevitable gaping appeared again.
Ezekiel then turned his attention back to his system. He saw that he now had 16 spell slots. A single 4th level slot, 2 level 3 slots, 3 level 2 slots, 4 level 1 slots and 6 cantrip slots.
The cooldown for the level 4 slots was 5 minutes though and that meant that to use the slot effectively, he would need to plan it out. Ezekiel could now build a three-story Galder’s Tower though.
Ezekiel also planned to purchase all of the level 2 spells which would cost him 3 gold and 6 silver coins since he earned a massive amount of gold coins from the bandits and the dead noble family. So he immediately did so.
He then calculated how much it would cost him to purchase all of the level 3 spells. Each one of 3rd level spells would cost him 20 silvers and he already purchased 9 of them. On the Wizard Spell List – DnD 5th Edition Site, there were 62 level 3 spells so deducting the cost of the spells that he already purchased, would cost him a total of 10 gold and 6 silver coins. Purchasing the spells would allow him to have 63 Gold 38 Silver and 50 plus Copper Coins left.
He also planned to increase his 4th tab space to 7 cubic meters and that would cost him another 10 gold coins. He spent the coins and now he still had 53 Gold 38 Silver and 50 plus Copper Coins.
Ezekiel was happy to look at his recent purchases. It cost him a lot of gold coins but they were there to be spent and with Simon’s presence, he could gamble on selling more expensive items.
He would have to be selective in purchasing the 4th level spells though since each one of them would cost him 1 gold coin so Ezekiel turned his attention to the 4th level spells excitedly. The list of spells that he could use under the 4th level spell list fascinated Ezekiel and he felt that all of them were somewhat useful. He did purchase a few first like the spells Fabricate, which would allow him to craft things using magic, Hallucinatory Terrain which would allow him to hide the Galder’s Towers whenever they stopped, and the powerful armor spell Stone Skin. The spells cost him a total of 3 gold coins.
