TBE Chapter 81

TBE Chapter 81

Simon said that since Ezekiel commanded him to bypass the town of Erathon, the road that they would be using to continue traveling would be the less used one, and it would add days to their travel on the way to the next village.

“It doesn’t matter, Simon, since we're not in a hurry to get somewhere. It would be better for us to avoid your town because you and the family that was murdered by the bandits were from there, and we don’t want any trouble from Erathon’s townsfolk,” Ezekiel said.

It was dark when they decided to look for a place to camp since Ezekiel truly wanted to get at least several hours away from Erathon. They chose a somewhat clear location inside the forest, and since he reached level 4, Ezekiel conjured a three-story Galder’s Tower, consisting of the kitchen for the first floor that he was using as his workshop, the bedroom for the second floor, and the washroom for the third floor.

He could now properly say that the Galder’s Tower was truly a tower and not just a house, and not only that, since the design was inspired by an Elven Spire that was drawn by the netizens from Earth, the tower was truly elegant.

He didn’t forget to cast a second one-story Galder’s Tower for Prince Charming’s stable, and then after that, he commanded Simon to lead the donkey and the cart to its stable. Simon, with his mouth gaping and his eyes wide in amazement, woke up from his stupor when he saw the tower appearing and brought the cart to the stable.

Ezekiel followed Simon and Prince Charming while Robert and Luke ran inside the three-story tower to check the difference between their old house and this new, taller tower. While they were inside the stable, Simon watched Ezekiel clean Prince Charming using a spell, and then their newly hired caretaker gaped in amazement again when Ezekiel brought out the donkey’s food from his 4th tab space.

He guessed that it would last several days before Simon got used to Ezekiel’s spell casting, but he kept instructing Simon on how to behave even if he was amazed, surprised, or whatever new emotion he would encounter since it should be believable that Simon would be capable of guarding their family.

Ezekiel believed that sooner or later, Simon would learn, but the boy who looked like a man was now gaping at every single thing that Ezekiel was doing. He knew that he should not fault the boy since if he was in Simon’s situation, he would probably do the same thing.

Imagine being a serf turned temporary bandit in a backward world wherein the only thing you knew was cruelty and work, and then suddenly you encountered a wizard who could conjure beautiful towers and delicious food. Anyone would be amazed.

After the donkey was cleaned, fed, and watered, Ezekiel and Simon went outside the stable after asking Simon to bring the box that contained their extra clothes, towels, and toiletries. He then cast the Arcane Lock spell on the doors of the towers, but this time, Ezekiel included Simon in the spells so their attendant could freely enter and exit the houses with the Arcane Lock without any problem.

When they entered the main three-story house, the kitchen that he was using as his workshop looked good. The stairs were now circular and located on one side, and it was now easier for anyone to climb up and down through the floors. The kitchen, although small, was complete.

Ezekiel and Simon then went up to the third floor, where the washroom was located. Robert and Luke were there playing with the toy ship, and Simon was bringing the soap and towels there. After all of them were washed up, they went down to the kitchen where the dining room was located, and Ezekiel served the food that was stored in his 4th tab space.

Maybe because Simon ate a lot, totaling six bento boxes, the three siblings also ate a lot, which consisted of two bento boxes each. Ezekiel was proud of the food that he prepared since he made sure that they were diverse enough that Robert and Luke would not get tired of them, but the problem right now was that he thought that the food that he prepared would last them a couple of months, but that was when he assumed that they would only eat one bento box per meal.

He forgot that as growing boys, there would be instances when they would consume a lot of food, and now that Simon joined them, the food consumption was humongous. It didn’t matter too much to Ezekiel because one of the reasons why he wanted to earn coins was to make sure that he and his brothers could eat anything and anytime they wanted.

All the calculations that Ezekiel did meant only one thing. He would need to spend a day cooking again so he could accumulate a lot of food in his 4th tab space. It was highly convenient for all of them to travel without the need to prepare food every time they stopped to eat since Ezekiel could just retrieve them from his inventory.

Ezekiel then decided that after they were far away from Erathon, about four or five days travel from where they were currently, they would stop in a place for a day or two so he could spend the time cooking and accumulating food that he could store in his 4th tab space.

At least this time, Ezekiel thought that cooking food would be easier since he expected that Simon would help him a lot. His brothers were too little to assist him in cooking. He guessed that he should have begun teaching them to help him and to do some chores, but he was probably overcompensating for the time that the boys suffered while they waited for their parents to return or while they waited for Ezekiel to bring home some food for the three of them before he transmigrated to this world.

Simon kept praising the food they were eating during dinner, and the man-boy kept saying that he never thought that he would be able to eat what wizards eat.

“My brother’s food is better than the food they served at the inn where we stayed in the past!” Robert boasted.

“You were a serf ever since you were born. How do you know about wizards?” Ezekiel asked Simon.

“Before we rest, the older serfs will sometimes tell stories about knights and princesses and wizards and monsters, but those times were few and far between because normally, all of us were too tired from work. Those stories were wonderful, but I realized when I got older that there were no wizards that would rescue us from the master’s whips. That’s why I ran away. But now I’m living in a wizard’s tower!”

“Just make sure that you’ll learn all that I’m teaching you so you can act as our guardian.”

“I will make sure to do that, Kel,” Simon replied in a deeper voice that made Ezekiel nod in approval and made Robert and Luke laugh.

The boys then imitated the way Simon talked in a deeper voice, and that began their night of hilarity.

After Ezekiel cleaned up the lunch boxes, Simon complained that because of Kel’s magic, there were no chores left for him to do, and that made him feel useless. Ezekiel had to reiterate that Simon’s main job was to act as their guardian and not to do chores, so he would be happy if the man-boy learned how to act as soon as possible.

Ezekiel then conjured a bed using the spell Fabricate that Simon would use near the one that he and his two brothers were using. It was the first time he used the spell, and he thought then that because of the Fabricate spell, their travel would become a lot easier.

He then reminded Simon not to think of anything bad since he and his brothers were being guarded by the butcher knives. He almost laughed out loud when Simon kept saying that he would never do anything bad and that the man-boy almost cried while assuring him.

Robert then asked Ezekiel to continue telling them Luffy’s stories, so he started reading from where he left off on the One Piece manga. The funny thing was that Ezekiel saw Simon listening to the stories with wide eyes. The man-boy’s expression looked like a kid, and with Simon looking like a 25-year-old farmer, he gave off a confusing presence to others. Ezekiel hoped that Simon would learn to act older soon enough.

The next day, everyone ate with gusto, and the boys copied Simon again and ate a lot. Simon ate five bento boxes again, and their siblings ate a couple of bento boxes each, which Ezekiel appreciated since that would fill out his brothers sooner rather than later. He never thought that any of them would turn obese or something like that because they were in the middle of a travel, and that meant they were using all the energy that they had been consuming. Besides, Robert and Luke were very active boys, and Ezekiel himself kept casting spells.

Ezekiel realized then that the reason why it was taking longer for the three siblings to fill out was that the food they consumed was still probably less than they should have consumed, given the energy they use each day.
