Kiri la Kill - Chapter 16

Man, I really promised 6 chapters for this week and then got distracted with Persona 5, didn’t I… Well, here is the 4th chapter of this week. I'll make up for the other two next week, which was originally going to have no chapters since I was going back to school and all.

Come to think of it, that’s what I should have promised from the start! Oh well, you live and ya learn I suppose. Thank you all for your patience, and let’s get back to it.

---------- ---------- ----------

Safe to say, there was a lot of scrambling after those events.

Given the scale of events, it was impossible for the world to not notice that something had gone wrong. Even Honnouji Academy, with its bottomless well of resources, was not immune to information leaks. Perhaps because of the fact that they were at the center of so much attention.

Despite the tendency of such totalitarian regimes trying to keep anything that could damage their reputation a secret however… Honnouji Academy, that is to say, Kiryuin Satsuki made no secret of the fact that her school was attacked one day, and was dealt a previously unimaginable blow.

Though the school had come out relatively unscathed beyond the damage done to its gates, and no students had lost their lives during the attack itself, a lot of heavy equipment had been lost, and even worse, a good chunk of irreplaceable Goku Uniforms had now been destroyed.

And perhaps most importantly, in news that had been kept secret even from Honnouji’s own patrons, what gave those Uniforms their true potential, their ‘secret ingredient’ so to say, had been destroyed alongside them…

Given those uniforms were what made Honnouji’s student body be regarded as the monsters of 'talent' that they were, it could be said that the situation was dire.

Of course, it wasn’t nearly enough to dislodge them from their spot at the top, given the scale of the difference that existed between that academy and the rest of the world… But when people saw Kiryuin Satsuki admit with her own words, that her school had suffered a heavy blow, they couldn’t help but imagine that gap shrinking just enough that they could perhaps reach out and close it if they just reached out.

It was a chastisement of the highest order, after all… And more word had gotten out that Satsuki herself was given a thorough dressing down from her mother. The whole mess had made Kiryuin Ragyo’s job a lot harder after all, working double time to ensure that her daughter’s mistake did not affect REVOCS’ bottom line.

As things stood, were it not for their special privileges being a well known thing, Honnouji Academy might have just been demoted to a regular school then and there.

But in some people’s eyes, it already had been.

Even now, schools which had previously cowered in fear of Honnouji’s complete takeover, now saw them frantically tightening their grip on the schools they had under their control, and licked their lips in anticipation, preparing to pounce to take a bite of the pie for themselves.

And as for the rumors surrounding the attack… There sure were a lot of them, as Satsuki had only announced the attack itself, and its consequences, and not of the people who had orchestrated and carried it out. It had seemed that all of Honnouji’s efforts had gone to keeping who had dealt them such a heavy blow, a secret.

Speculation ran rampant for days as to who, or what might have given one of the strongest institutions in the world such a bloody nose. Perhaps it was another school, perhaps it was several, perhaps it was the government! The fact that Honnouji had crushed them didn’t seem to matter in the public’s eye.

Only that someone had, and that they may do so again.

And in a deeper look behind the scenes of this whole ordeal, it became apparent that not even Kiryuin Ragyo knew the truth of the matter as well as the press did, which was not at all. Only, of course, she wasn’t caught up in the speculation at all…

She was deceived by her daughter, with the only fake story that Satsuki told in the aftermath.

And it was quite the masterful trickery.

Though her original plans had been thrown off course in a massive manner, it seemed as though she had made out like a true bandit by expertly manipulating the following events to her advantage.. For she had the true culprit captured, and knew that if she were just given the time to talk with him… she would be able to draw him over to her side.

He was quite clearly lost after all, and in need of guidance.

If he could be shown the truth of the matter, and what Satsuki was doing was for the good of the world, thus being freed from the old self that puppeted him through sheer instinct alone, the progress made on her old plans would be surpassed several times over.

It all hinged on this now, there was no doubt about it.

---------- ---------- ----------

Kirishima Eijiro woke up with a jolt.

His first instinct was to jump to his feet, only… he quickly realized that it was impossible, considering that he found himself unable to move his body even an inch, the reason quickly revealed when a spotlight suddenly shone down on him.

He was chained down, quite literally, to a hospital bed that had been bolted to the ground. Several times over in fact, in a room that looked like it was carved out of solid steel, and which thrummed with energy of defenses that one could feel, even if they couldn’t see.

He could still call on his Quirk it seemed, but even that couldn’t help him budge the chains an inch, the incredibly powerful material feeling like it had been made to hold him and him alone with the way they shifted so well to keep him in place.

It seemed as though his search for the truth had run into quite the unexpected snag.

So…

How was he getting himself out of this?

---------- ---------- ----------

Next chapter will come tomorrow, a conversation between Kiri and Satsuki.
