Even without his memories, Kiri had learned that there really was no door one couldn’t open, so long as they tried hard enough.
Case in point, it had not taken him long to realize that, if he kept trying to move out of his restraints as hard as he could, without letting up for even a second… his tremendous strength would allow him to break free eventually.
…Yes, eventually.
Because really, the chains were absurdly strong.
Of course, it was very unrealistic to assume that his captors would allow him to do that unchallenged, and that had indeed not been the case. More than once, Kiri found himself being shouted at by people from… somewhere, though the blinding spotlights being shone down on him made it hard to tell just where.
It had mostly been shouts, though there had been a couple of people who’d gone and tried to stop Kiri… talking about ‘Monster’ this or ‘Creature’ in the meanwhile, some even going violent in trying to stop him.
They couldn’t really do anything worthwhile to make him stop, mind you… Kiri was still capable of activating his Quirk underneath all of those chains, even if doing so made him incapable of moving due to the chains being designed specifically for that.
And those that tried to get close?
Well.
“HE BIT MY NOSE OFF!”
“WHAT THE HECK ARE THOSE TEETH MADE OUT OF?!”
“WHY DID NO ONE JUST LACE HIS FOOD?!”
It didn’t end well for them.
And now, they just resorted to shouting, and Kiri had to contend with the taste of blood in his mouth, because he wasn’t gonna go and eat anything after they’d just blurted that out.
Safe to say, he was in a mood that was getting progressively fouler the more time passed, chipping away at his restraints at a pace that felt so slow, hungry, feeling absolutely wretched, and mind filled with thoughts that he refused to think about.
And it was all because of---
“You woke up early.”
Her.
Kiri’s eyes shot open instinctively, and instead of being blinded by the spotlights like before, he found that they were instead lowered to reveal none other than the graceful form of Kiryuin Satsuki herself, the woman who’d defeated Kiri after his battle.
“Not early enough.” Was his instinctual response, before he shut his mouth and looked away, a scowl coming over his features as he repeatedly blinked to get his eyes used to the light… “If you’re here after all that damage control you had to do.
“I wasn’t worried about you escaping.” She said, as imperious as she ever was. “But it would have been troublesome for you to see someone else, before you saw me.” Now that made Kiri’s frown deepen, before he turned once more to look up at her.
“What are you talking about?”
“Did you choose to dwell on my words at all?” She asked, instead of answering his question. “Or did you not think about them at all?”
“I was a bit preoccupied.” Kiri bit out, shaking about a bit to place emphasis on the chains wrapped around his body, which jingled and jangled ineffectually… Though even that spoke to the value of his tenacity, that the previously taut chains had gotten loose enough for that.
“Do you wish to?”
What was she--- wait, so that was her angle. “Is this your recruitment pitch?” He asked, tone sardonic. “Because I have to say.” He looked down on his body, at the chains. “It needs some work.” Left unsaid was the ‘no’ that came with
Not that Satsuki seemed to particularly care. “You wouldn’t be the first I’ve had to beat into submission to get on my side.” She said, “But I doubt it would work… you aren’t the type to be impressed by witnessing someone’s resolve in their ideals.”
“What ideals?” Kiri scoffed. “Oppressing the people who can’t protect themselves? Playing with their lives like they’re your dolls? Is that supposed to make me impressed?” The opposite had been true then, and it was true now.
No matter what she said, no matter how removed Kiri became the person that was locked away behind his memories, no matter what that person felt about the state of the world, he would never forget the anger he felt at seeing people reduced to that state.
But his words only seemed to vindicate Satsuki’s own. “The person you are would not follow an ideology that doesn’t correlate with your own.”
“You talk an awful lot about what kind of person I am.” Kiri growled, his frustration apparent. “What would you know? Were you the one that did this to me?” The chains grew taut as he leaned forward, “Did you lock away my memories?!”
Now it was Satsuki’s turn to frown. “So that’s how you lost yourself…” She murmured. “But that doesn’t explain your strange powers,
“Your powers are what’s strange to me.” Kiri shot back. “More importantly, don’t gloss over that! Do you expect me to take your word for it, when you say you have nothing to do with what happened to me?”
Satsuki turned back to him with a frown. “I’ve never known someone with your name, up until now.” She responded. “And the amount of people I know that are capable of doing this to someone like you are few indeed… Meaning Honnouji, or REVOCS.”
“Your mother’s company.”
“You’ve done your research.” Satsuki nodded. “Admirable.”.
“I suspected them more than your school, but…” Kiri trailed off with a murmur…
“Even with your strength, you cannot touch REVOCS.” Kiryuin Satsuki said. “Unless you had allies with you.”
Now Kiri’s scowl returned.
“What kind of pitch is that?” He demanded. “You’re saying you’re going to betray your own mother because of me?”
“Who said it was because of you?” Satsuki responded promptly. “You would be merely a great ally added to my own efforts, double the worth of all that you destroyed during your rampage…” She said, looking off for a moment, before nodding and turning to him again. “I am prepared to offer full disclosure… if you are willing to consider my offer.”
Kiri’s instinctual answer would have been to say no, because of course it would be. He was still angry at her over what he saw in Honno City, he despised her cruel regime, despised the way she toyed with people’s lives
But…
“Fine.” He said. “I’ll decide what to say after hearing your story.”
Kiryuin Satsuki smiled.
