Kiri La Kill - Chapter 31

And we are back for the week! Welcome back y’all, hope you’ve all been having a good time. Sorry for no update on Mondays, was just caught up in a really busy time… hopefully, no such thing this week and Monday

The double update to make up for last Monday will come on… Next Monday, sounds kinda strange to say, I know. But it is what it is.

Hope you all enjoy it, and see you on the other side.

-----------------------------------------

“You’re… going home?” Kiri spoke, some confusion in his voice even as he sipped from the tea that Satsuki’s butler had brought to him. It was a rather sudden opening of the topic, not even five minutes into their regular meetings.

“Not home.” Satsuki corrected him. “To the Kiryuin Estate on the mainland.” She frowned in contemplation as she looked away for a moment, seemingly mulling something over. “I have something to retrieve, as it so happens.”

In hindsight, the fact that there was a ‘Kiryuin Estate’ was not really a surprise to Kiri, and even more so… the fact that she didn’t live there, considering what she was planning against her own mother. That didn’t change the fact that it was all still very sudden.

“How long do you expect it to last?”

“The weekend, at most.” Satsuki responded, shaking off her thoughts. “My mother is off on a business trip in America, meaning she won’t be able to prevent me from doing anything, the staff that she left behind are not even worth mentioning.”

Ah, so there was a catch.

“So this is something that might put you against her…” Kiri murmured. “And you think it’s wise, especially in this moment?” Matoi’s assault on whatever clubs that Kiri hadn’t taken down had turned what had been a shortage of Goku Uniforms into a massive drought, as it stood… Honnouji barely had access to the arsenal of a regular school.

Satsuki scoffed, seemingly unconcerned. “Gaining what I seek will more than make up for any loss that we experienced.”

“I suppose I shouldn’t beat around the bush then.” Kiri said, still requiring some convincing. “What is this oh so important thing?”

Kiri’s stomach had a sinking feeling, when Satsuki’s lips suddenly curled up in a smirk, but still… he proved himself to be a fool by taking a sip of his tea in the worst possible moment..

“Why, my wedding dress, of course.”

The spit-take that resulted from her words could simply be classified as legendary.

Mainly because it was what allowed Kiryuin Satsuki’s mirth ring clearly across the corridors of Honnouji Academy, stunning all those who heard it. But it had also laid a seed in both of their minds, a seed for an idea that would slowly be nurtured into something truly special.

-----------------------------------------

“Keep putting the pressure on Matoi Ryuko.” Satsuki said, the joy in her voice still audible as she escorted Kiri out of her office. “When I return, I want her to be able to put up a fight against me.” Kiri agreed with a nod, mind still reeling.

It took a moment for Kiri to get over that little conversation, it took him a moment to start laughing himself… even as he contemplated the potential of another Godrobe running around, especially used by someone like Satsuki.

Satsuki, who had managed to cut a chunk off of Kiri’s hardened chest with a sword, and the power of her strength of arms alone… Had she the access to a Godrobe, perhaps she’d even be able to cut him in half.

Kiri shuddered in anticipation at the inevitable rematch he’d share with her.

Though, of course, he’d have to get over his own rut as well.

Some progress was made on that front, as he recognized a problem, and the need to solve it… alongside some serious consideration into who he had been as a person, and establishing a clear idea of what he wanted to be as a person, going forward.

Satsuki had aided him along this, though that avenue of aid was limited… the girl had admitted to not being a good therapist, had very pointedly advised against getting one for fear of a potential leak (read: the threat of her mother), and had expressed disinterest in her perceived notion of the person that he had been… Kiri pointedly chose to ignore the fact that she might be interested in the person he was becoming, due to one thing and one thing only.

But the biggest hurdle in his path, was of course, his lack of memories.

There were so many potential curveballs that not having memories could throw in his ‘development’ as a person. So many that, if Kiri were to write them out, he would probably be able to fill a small book’s worth of stuff.

So, he was at a bit of an impasse.

And so, again, he threw himself into training Matoi Ryuko, in hopes that she could be the one to help him.

-----------------------------------------

Matoi Ryuko, meanwhile… was doing some research of her own.

She had found her first ‘mini-boss’ as it were, in the form of Kirishima Eijiro. Someone who had proven to be strong enough to go against her, had shown willingness to do so (it had been very easy to discover that he’d been the one to send that Tennis chick her way) and most importantly, had played with her friend’s heart.

That had been the pre-conceived notion that she’d gone into this affair with.

Only to have that viewpoint be flipped upside down, when she dug deep into the rumors.

Because how could she not? When this was the same person who had almost broke the back of Honnouji, who’d nearly killed Gamagoori Ira, who’d made Kiryuin Satsuki clear the slums, and who’d proven to be the one person that could stand on equal footing with her…

The view she had of a monstrous womanizer of a brute was gone, and Ryuko was forced to confront the cordial attitude of the boy as something entirely different than a mask that she’d been assuming (read: had pretty much convinced herself) to be true.

In the lead-up to their second confrontation, Ryuko could feel that something was going to shift, and it was going to shift catastrophically.
