SHINee Knowing Bros 50

Hey Hey
So this was my first look at Jonghyun's personality - he is so cute and sweet. It's clear how he is looking out for Taemin.
I got annoyed with this video and super protective of Taemin with all the 'feminine' 'girl' comments they were making. He laughed it off but I thought it was a bit off.
Gosh Minho is soooooooooo competitive damn.
Key was quiet in this and letting the others speak.
AND Onew in the outfit at the end!! HOT 😅
P.s This was the most requested when I filmed it but I can now see that you have voted more for weekly idol, so that will come next. I've also got the behind the recording of DCM and the others you voted for coming.

SHINee Knowing Bros 50

Comments

I think there are some misunderstandings here. Actually the hosts in the show have been in the industry for a super long time, some of them are among the top hosts and both shinee and the hosts know each other very well since their debute as shinee was constant guests on some of their shows back then. They absolutely love shinee, which is why shinee chose to be on this particular show as they will feel comfortable with them. Heechul is also a sweetheart and thoughtful SM senior who will never hurt the guest's feeling. The reaction of the guests in variety show is very important as you need these to make the show funny and being in the industry for ages, the members of shinee are smart enough to give exactly reaction the hosts wanted to make the show watchable. The reason they cued Taemin many times with those jokes is Taemin is relatively shy but quite playful. He needed help to make enough part in this show. If they don't help him, he will end up have not enough memorable part in the show. So next time when you watch a Korean variety show, don't take too serious of anything happened in the show as all the words and reactions are exaggerated to maximise the effect.

As long as he's fine with it, it's all good. It's better not to restrict them 🙂

They might have gotten carried away with the taemin jokes, they focus on making the show funny the most. It's how the show is originally, their jokes are pretty intense between the hosts (about each others divorces, gambling problems, smoking etc). heechul is a representative of men not being masculine, he's proud of it and often makes feminine jokes about himself and others. In a way masculinity means nothing to him, so not being masculine is no big deal, and he jokes about it comfortably not meaning harm. However, even if they don't mean it, for a guest (and viewers who are unfamiliar with the show) these types of jokes can be too much. Guests know what the show is like and I doubt that taemin took that to heart, but the hosts need to tone it down and have slight boundaries too.

I think it’s also worth noting that taemin used to be incredibly shy up until his hyungs enlisted. He used to be the most quiet one of the bunch so this was a time that he couldn’t express himself well. Not to say that he wasn’t uncomfortable cause i think to a certain degree he was but i feel like if it happened now he would’ve definitely fought back 😬

for SHINee there are 10 ships hahahahaah every member has been shipped w another, they are just really close like family , just some are more obvious cos of character / method of interaction. in the beginning 2min (minho/taemin) and jongkey (jonghyun/key) were most popular but over time it's literally EVERYONE haha

xzxzOJKEYMTzxzx

SHINee are also really close w a number of them. Hodong esp favours them cos he saw them when they were super babies. and older variety members like soogeun also have filmed different things here and there w them. SHINee have been consistently popular and ard for a significant time so they generally will always know 1 or 2 ppl from any show even if they aren't super close. SHINee is like everyone's baby, esp Taemin, no matter how old they get hahahaha

xzxzOJKEYMTzxzx

Well actually all of them even Taemin. And they are savage even to each other. Can't wait.😁

Sarjie

I’m so here for savage SHINee. I feel like that would be key right? 😂

Yetti

So yeah i'm on a marathon watching all your SHINee reactions here. Love it! I'm super excited to see your Weekly Idol reactions. You can get to see the more savage side of SHINee.

Sarjie

Yes definitely agree the episode with Minho and Key is super funny, showing their love hate relationship and the one with Taemin too

Clairewol

Ok great thanks. Key and Minho are really funny together so I’m sure that first one will be good.

Also, Taemin has been on Knowing Bros so many times and there’s an episode with Minho and Key and all of them are funnier than the one you just watched: Ep 132, Key + Minho + comedian, this one is funny Ep 136, just Taemin + more guests, Dancers Special Ep 245, SuperM (of course Taemin included), they were super sweet and funny here, I think will be interesting for you especially now that you’re starting to know more about NCT and EXO. I agree that he wasn’t comfortable but also I must recognise that Taemin was so shy on variety shows and you will notice the difference a lot through the years, he grew a lot! I also, I read a comment before, Heechul, Hodong and Sangmin are always super sweet and supportive with him on any program he has been with them, and they are not the only ones. It seems like the general behaviour with MCs, they are always super sweet ❤️, so I really wish you don’t stay with that image, in general almost everyone is caring with SHINee.

Golonval3

Not Onew catching you off guard during a VARIETY SHOW ma’am!😂

Simphiwe Ndaba

Totally agree with PearlAquaTaemint! And this episode is from 2016 like 5 years ago so I think something offensive about it was not a big deal at that time. Not saying it is okay to do those but I see that more from a social aspect than individual level since the whole world is still progressing:) Taemin has faced so many opinion of gender stereotypes(especially toxic masculinity) and even been kinda confused and bothered(in my opinion) from his early puberty when he was more introverted and did not express himself that much. Watching those old contents just makes me so proud of him for going through all of it and ending with who he is now.

donthaveanamestill

Yes they did and it was soo sad. Suga produced a song for the hosts and they refused to accept it and dissed it totally.

Did BTS go on earlier in their career? The original hosts were eventually fired, thankfully. Then there was a transition period of hosts. Now it’s settled and Eunhyuk (Super Junior) and Kwanghee (Z:EA) are the hosts. Since both of them are idols, I find they are not as harsh on guests like the original hosts. With you getting into NCT, you could watch an episode of Weekly Idol with the new hosts. Maybe EXO was on with the new hosts too. I was hoping SHINee would do weekly idol this comeback, but oh well.

The sweeter thing is their own family members such as parents and siblings are close to each other as well. The family like bond is not just about these 5 boys but literally ALL OF THEM.☺️

Ojkmt_Nini

Jonghyun was the center and MC of SHINee who did the most job of promoting and explaining the idea of their music back then, you could see he was very talkative and really good at that in many of their interviews and variety shows. Even though Key was also fun and not afraid or shy to express himself at all, when they were on a show together as 5HINee, he did talk less than he does now. And I think that was his comfort mode to talk only when he wanted to. In their early days, jongkey (Jonghyun and Key) and 2min (Minho and Taemin) were indeed the two main ships you would see people talking about. Then people ship any two of SHINee because people got to know they all love each other as a family group in their own way.

Ojkmt_Nini

Yes the weekly idol hosts can be savage, it’s often funny. But there was one time BTS went Early in their career that was horrific. It was rude to the point of cringing. When I’ve seen them with GOT7 they are savage but funny so hopefully it will be the same.

No problem! All the SM artists are super close but Heechul can be kinda abrasive if you don't know him or realize that he really loves SHINee, he's actually quite sweet but kinda tsudere (like Key actually haha). Like when they are performing 1 of 1 Heechul is smiling in the back like a proud dad lol. Just be prepared for the hosts of weekly idol to make fun of the members too- it definitely took me a bit to get used to korean variety shows myself.

Pockets

Thanks for the SM context, there were some inner jokes for sure. The meaning of Onew is soo fitting. weekly idol will be fun to see.

Yetti

I'm not sure how much you know about sm in general but just for some info Heechul is part of SM (the group Super Junior) and so knows SHINee super well. That's why he kinda went all in in the teasing, not to say all of it was okay but I tend to hold judgement on comedy from other countries/cultures because comedy is one of those things that tends to be super culture specific. Heechul is super close with all the members and has known them since the members were trainees, all of Super Junior is really close with SHINee- like have accepted awards on their behalf kinda close. That's why Heechul and Jjong were joking about Heechul knowing about them 'dating' and stuff. In addition in the industry since the members debuted so young a lot of the people in the music and variety industry have known and interacted with the members since they were just teenagers so they tend to be much closer than I've seen with other groups, added to the fact that 2nd gen groups in general tend to be way more loose and no hold barred for variety shows- like check out any 2PM, Beast/Highlight, or even Infinite variety shows (Beast/Highlight and Infinite weekly idol episodes are so good too highly recommend) and you can see how it's different from groups on variety now, at least in my opinion. So happy that you are gonna be checking Weekly Idol those episodes are great! And love seeing you get to know the members more and more with each reaction. Since Onew is my bias I'll give you the rundown on his stage name. Onew's real name is Lee Jinki, usually the members call him Onew especially in more early variety shows but you'll probably hear them call him Jinki in like behind the scenes videos- Key will call him Old Man a lot as well lol. Onew used to be super clear that Onew was the idol and Jinki was the person (like he wouldn't come out when he was visiting the members solo stuff because he was Jinki not Onew) but he's gotten less so as he got older. SM's CEO gave him the stage name Onew because of his personality and vibe, Onew means gentle/soft which is why Key was saying that Onew's stage name is self-explanatory when you hear compared to Key's.
