If you barely manipulate few branches and grass, do not jump to forests. I can see him expertly manipulating few vines in future. Forest vs sword will break scaling.

Could have supported the underdog protagonist when it was known his engagement was broken off, or compare notes or offer optimization to the heavenly talented protagonist. The latter could have a been a great source of free valuable information.
