2024 Gems of the year winners Announced

The 2024 Gems of the year winners were announced today and I'm a bit floored to see I took the top spot in the Content category! To be voted as top content by the Obsidian Community means a lot to me and honestly, comes as a bit of a shock!



I just want to say a HUGE THANKS to all of you amazing people who have supported me on this journey. I've been making videos since 2016 and for a long time it was just something I did on the side as an addition to the hobby. Obsidian has changed the note taking game for so many people and I'm surprised daily by the clever things people are achieving with what is effectively a text editor. The support I get from you all has absolutely blown me away and when I hear stories of people binging my videos for days on end or sitting down to watch them with their partners? I still scratch myself and ask "Really? Surely not!". I get a kick out of all the comments and thanks though and just glad that the effort I put in is actually helping a bunch of you on your own journeys.

I've been reflecting recently on where to go next. I personally feel like I have stabilised on my Obsidian journey. I'm no longer seeking out shiny fancy new toys every day just to see what they can do. The plugins have matured and the way we use them has matured. There are things I no longer use and there are plugins that have been updated so many times that the old tutorials are no longer relevant. I've been paying close attention to the really new users, the repeat questions, the areas that need some more support.

Thus 2025 is going to kick off with some refresher tutorials.  I will be reviewing my old content with a view to update them and make the Obsidian TTRPG learning curve as easy as possible. 

So watch this space. The first video for 2025 is nearing the end of the production line and should be with you shortly. There's also a fancy new CLI UI that I have in the works that will be released once the new CLI is released.

• Lemons for his work on Obsidian Stats (although I'm pretty sure Meta Bind was the real game changer in 2024!).
