It's Me, Dio! - Chapter 53

Chapter 53

21th of December - Winter Solstice

Camp Half Blood

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaah", Percy Jackson screamed as he led the charge, his celestial bronze sword, Riptide, glinting in the fading light. With a powerful surge, he summoned water from the nearby fountain, forming a massive, protective wave. Castor and Pollux flanked him, their bodies morphing into cartoonish forms, defying the laws of physics. They bounced and stretched, dodging Kronos' initial swings with ease, their fluid movements a dazzling display of agility and creativity.

"Keep moving!" Percy shouted, his voice strained with effort. "Don't let him catch you!"

Clarisse La Rue, her armor tattered and her body covered in battle scars, stood tall and resolute. Her eyes blazed with an intense fire as she raised her hands to the sky. "For Freedom!" she screamed, her voice echoing across the battlefield. In an instant, an enormous spear made of purple flames erupted from her grasp, its blazing light illuminating the chaos around her. The flames spread across her body, enveloping her in a cloak of power and fury. With a battle cry that shook the very ground, she charged at Kronos, her spear aimed at his heart.

Beside her, Hazel Levesque commanded the earth, causing the ground to rumble and split, attempting to ensnare Kronos' feet with deadly shards of obsidian. "Let's see you dodge this!" she shouted, her hands trembling with effort. Frank Zhang transformed into a towering bear, his roar echoing across the battlefield as he charged with unstoppable force. "This ends now, Kronos!" he bellowed.

Kronos, his silver eyes gleaming with malevolent delight, moved with an unnatural speed and grace. His enormous scythe cut through the air with terrifying precision. With a single, fluid motion, he deflected Percy’s water attack, sending the wave crashing harmlessly to the side. "Pathetic," he sneered. "Is that all you have?"

The demigods attacked in unison, their movements a coordinated frenzy of desperation. Castor and Pollux bounced around Kronos, their cartoonish forms dodging and stretching in impossible ways. Castor’s elongated arms tried to trip Kronos, while Pollux's body twisted and contorted to avoid the deadly scythe. Percy sent torrents of water slicing through the air, aiming for Kronos' exposed flanks.

Clarisse’s flaming spear met Kronos' scythe with a clash of sparks. She screamed, pouring all her fury into the attack, but with a mighty swing, the scythe shattered the spear into countless embers, sending her sprawling back. Hazel’s obsidian spikes erupted from the ground, but Kronos merely laughed, stomping them back into the earth with a dismissive wave of his hand.

Frank, in his bear form, lunged with claws outstretched, but Kronos’ scythe met him mid-air, slicing through muscle and bone. Frank crashed into a nearby wall with a force that left him dazed, blood pooling beneath him. "A bear? How quaint," Kronos jeered, wiping Frank's blood from his blade.

As the demigods continued their desperate assault, Kronos began to employ his mastery over time. With a snap of his fingers, he froze time, leaving the demigods suspended in mid-attack. He leisurely walked among them, positioning their limbs awkwardly before releasing the time freeze, causing them to stumble and fall. "You're all so predictable," he said, his scythe slicing through the air. "So weak."

Kronos then rewound time, undoing their most powerful attacks as if they had never happened. Percy’s water blades reverted to harmless droplets, and Hazel’s earth spikes sank back into the ground. Castor and Pollux’s contorted forms snapped back to their original positions, their attacks rendered useless. "Futile," Kronos mocked. "You cannot change what is already decided."

With a powerful swing, Kronos sent Percy crashing into the ground, his sword clattering away. "Look at you," Kronos sneered, standing over Percy. "The so-called hero of Olympus. Nothing but a child playing at war."

Clarisse, bloodied and barely standing, lunged at Kronos with a feral scream. Her purple flames flickered and dimmed as she pushed forward. But her axe shattered upon contact, fragments scattering like broken dreams. "You think you can kill me?" Kronos laughed, his voice dripping with malevolent glee. "I am invincible."

Hazel’s earth-shaking attacks were met with disdain. Kronos stomped his foot, and the ground beneath Hazel’s control quivered, reversing her efforts and trapping her in her own trap. "You think you can control the earth better than a Titan?" he taunted, his voice dripping with condescension.

Frank, still in his bear form, charged again, but Kronos stopped time just as Frank was mid-leap. Kronos moved aside leisurely, then resumed time, causing Frank to crash into the ground where Kronos had stood. "You are mere insects to me," Kronos sneered.

Despite their best efforts, the demigods found themselves outmatched. Kronos toyed with them, his power overwhelming. Percy, Castor, Pollux, Clarisse, Hazel, and Frank were left battered and bruised, struggling to rise. Kronos, untouched and unbothered, stood amidst the wreckage, his scythe gleaming ominously.

"Your resistance is admirable, but ultimately pointless," Kronos declared, his voice echoing with finality. "You cannot stand against the might of Change. Accept your fate and know despair. Bow."

A crushing pressure filled the air, bearing down on the demigods. One by one, they felt their knees buckle under the overwhelming force of Kronos' power. Despair seeped into their hearts, sapping their will to fight. The majority succumbed quickly, falling to their knees. Only a few still stood, their faces etched with determination and pain: Hazel, Frank, the twins, Clarisse, Annabeth, Beckendorf, and Percy.

The pressure increased, an invisible weight pushing harder against their bodies and spirits. Beckendorf, his face contorted with strain, was the first of the standing to drop to one knee. Hazel followed, her strength finally giving out. Annabeth, gritting her teeth, tried to resist but ultimately succumbed. Pollux and Castor, usually so full of energy, could not withstand the relentless force and knelt next. Clarisse, flames still flickering weakly around her, fell to her knees, followed by Percy, who, despite his best efforts, could no longer stand.

Kronos laughed, a sound devoid of warmth or mirth. "Any last words to add?" he mocked, his voice dripping with contempt.

Pollux, through the haze of pain and despair, managed a defiant grin. "Yeah. Fuck you. And rutabaga are chickens disguised as spoons."

As he uttered the seemingly nonsensical phrase, a shimmer of magic enveloped the demigods. The pearl necklaces they wore around their necks, tokens given in to them by Dionysos, activated in unison. The petals from last years were portkeys - a secret only the twins knew. Bright, blinding light erupted from the pearls, engulfing each camper in a protective glow. Kronos' eyes widened in surprise and anger as the demigods began to vanish before him.

"NO!"

Olympus

Hermes stepped forward, his gaze steady. "Yes, Father. Olympus has stagnated for too long. Athena's vision is the future we need. We can no longer afford to be relics of a bygone era."

Athena, her eyes gleaming with ambition, stepped to the forefront. "My fellow gods, we stand at the precipice of a new era. The old ways have served us well, but they are no longer sufficient in a world that moves at the speed of light. Technology, capitalism, and digital innovation are reshaping existence itself. Imagine a world where our domains expand beyond the metaphysical into the very fabric of human progress. We can no longer afford to be static deities bound by ancient traditions and rituals.

"Our pantheon was once the most powerful, revered across the ancient world. But look at us now, reduced to mere shadows of our former glory. The Indian pantheon thrives with a billion followers, while the monotheistic religions have united and consolidated their power, surpassing us. They have adapted, evolved, found ways to remain relevant. We must do the same, or risk eternal obscurity.

"Technocapitalism offers us a path to reclaim our dominance. It is the new domain where growth is exponential, and opportunities are limitless. We can lead this charge, integrating our divine essence with the digital, creating a new order where we are not just gods of myth but architects of reality. Olympus must embrace liberalism, the ideology of freedom and innovation. Under my guidance, Olympus will no longer be shackled by ancient laws and rituals. We will foster a world of endless possibilities, where every idea, every spark of creativity, is nurtured and brought to fruition.

"This is a future where we, as gods, will not only survive but thrive, evolving into entities of unparalleled power and influence. The domains of technology and progress are ours for the taking, and we will integrate them into our divine essence, becoming something far greater than we ever were. We must embrace these changes, become masters of digital realms, capital markets, and scientific advancements. We will harness the boundless potential of human ingenuity and drive forward the evolution of existence."

Athena's gaze swept the room, locking eyes with each god. "Join me, and we will transcend the old limitations. We will become the true masters of destiny, guiding humanity to its peak while ensuring our own supremacy. Olympus will be reborn, not as a relic of the past, but as a beacon of progress and enlightenment. This is the opportunity for growth, for unparalleled dominance in a new world order. Together, we will shape the future and reclaim our place at the top."

Demeter, her face flushed with anger, stepped forward. "You speak of progress, Athena, but at what cost? The beauty of life lies in its simplicity, in the slow growth of crops, the gentle change of seasons. True happiness comes from the earth, from nurturing what we have, not from endless pursuit of more. Your vision is one of chaos, of relentless expansion without regard for the soul. The fields, the forests, the very heart of nature will be sacrificed on the altar of your so-called progress. We must cherish what we have, live in harmony with the world, not try to dominate and control it with technology and capitalism."

Athena sighed, a look of pity crossing her face. "I wish you could see the bigger picture, Demeter. It's not a null-sum game, and you're going a caricature…But if you insist on clinging to the past..." She snapped her fingers.

Hera stumbled, confusion and pain etching across her features. "Huh? What is this?" she gasped, clutching her chest as something inside her pulsated violently.

Athena, her expression turning cold and calculating, explained with the precision of a Bond villain. "Indeed, Hera, you feel something. A little something I placed in your tea this morning. A parasite, engineered through the wonders of bio-engineering and nanotechnology, designed to absorb your divine energy at an incredible speed. Your soul, your identity, being siphoned directly to me."

Hera contorted in agony, her form visibly aging as the parasite did its work. Athena turned to Hades, her gaze piercing. "Consider this a compelling argument to join me, dear uncle. Your power can either wane with the old ways or flourish under the new order."

Persephone averted her gaze, unable to bear the sight of her mother's suffering. Poseidon and Zeus, their faces masks of fury, transformed into their divine forms. Energy crackled around them as they charged at Athena, their determination to protect Olympus and its traditions unyielding. The room erupted into chaos, divine power clashing with the force of progress and change.

Athena stood her ground, a smirk playing on her lips. "And so it begins," she whispered to herself, ready to meet their challenge head-on. With a flash of divine energy, Athena assumed her full divine form. The gods watched in astonishment as she grew to an immense size, her presence towering as large as Zeus and Poseidon combined. Her form crackled with raw power, her eyes glowing with an unearthly light. Hades gulped, his hesitation palpable.

Athena's voice resonated with an eldritch timbre that sent shivers down their spines. "You will all fade," she declared, her tone filled with an eerie certainty. "The old ways will be forgotten, and I will usher in a new era."

Before the gods could react, a brilliant flash of light filled the room, blinding in its intensity. The very air seemed to vibrate with divine energy as the Archangel Michael appeared, his wings unfurled in a magnificent display that stretched from one end of the room to the other. His entire being radiated celestial power, a blazing halo encircling his head. His face was a mask of divine fury, eyes burning with a righteous fire that seemed to pierce through to the soul.

"What is happening here?" Michael's voice boomed, shaking the foundations of Olympus itself. The sheer force of his presence caused the walls to tremble, and his words echoed like thunder.

Heavens, he did not look like he was in a good mood.
