The thing with them taking away his relation to Laurie is that it makes it make no sense that he would be so fixated on her. Laurie would definitely have PTSD out the ass and even be terrified of him specifically. It's his side that makes no sense. I would imagine their reunion be much like Sally and Leatherface from the new Texas Chainsaw. Her like "I've been waiting for you to come back mother fucker, I'm ready!" and him being like "Who are you again? I kill anyone I feel like who comes across my path, you ain't special..." and her just sat there realizing he has ruled her every waking moment and she is just another body to him, dead or alive he couldn't care less.
