Math Update

I had requests for a spreadsheet that also supports champion and boss monsters. Here it is!

Also, thanks to the a LOT of work by Paul over at Blog of Holding and Teos on his Alphastream YouTube channel, we have a good breakdown of the math behind the D&D 5.5 monster design. I took their work and built a simple spreadsheet you can use to math out monsters. Enjoy, and let me know if you find any bugs.

Yes, that's the intent. Ability bonuses, attacks, AC, and hit points are only linked as much as you want them to be. I treat them as separate elements. That link is useful for players, but for monsters the end result is more important.

Brilliant! Thank you very much for sharing this math with us! And so fast, to boot! How much room is there for the Attack Bonus and Ability Bonuses to be set beyond the Baseline Stats? For example, would it make sense for a goblin archer trooper to have an Attack Bonus with a bow of +7 instead of the +5 where High is set? Thank you again!
