The Foxy Feast 2/11/2023

As you may have read, FoxyFeast is being moved to a new engine, and this month's release will be the debut, so my team and I took an extra week to make it a good one. We have been hard at work all month with the basics and all the stuff that happens behind the scenes so there isn't much to see yet, but we are proud to show off all we've reconstructed, and we even have some brand-new content for you to enjoy! That's right: just like any other update we've got an all-new NPC with a full   animation, and a secondary POV animation too.


Now we've got most of the basic stuff done, it should be even easier to make new content like this. That means you can look forward to lots more to come!


We were going to write a changelog of differences in the new engine, but honestly we think we did pretty well to keep things the same. The only thing to note is that Foxfire can't be launched yet. Don't worry; as pretty as it is, there's nothing to hit right now anyway!

Just played through and wanted to say, Jackie was very well done, especially the curse and SV stuff...I almost missed that, too.

I had to switch from controller to keyboard to do this. Wasn't an issue in the drizzling forest area cuz there was a hidden lightning item that I was able to just waste to get normal fire back, but I basically got softlocked once I was at the end of the drone section. The "I" key would not work while gamepad was enabled. So had to restart and ues the world map to get back to where I was and play with the honestly really awkward keyboard layout (WASD would not work for me either... Had to use arrow keys)

Try holding I. It may be a bug with the older version. Controller support was not fully implemented in the older version of the game. Some controllers had compatibility issues.

I can't seem to switch back to normal foxfire on controller. I'm holding select fo upwards of 20 seconds and nothing is happening,

It getting louder when closer to the source is cool, just please, don't make it only in one ear, for those of us with headsets when doin' stuff it can be a bit unpleasant/disorienting only hearing things from one side like that

It's not a bug, more so testing a feature that allows sound to play louder as foxy gets closer to its source. Was not removed from the demo yet.

Not sure if bug or my own settings being weird. Sounds and everything are normal, but the music in the start screen is only in my left ear. After accepting my age, the music immediately swaps to my right ear. Upon approaching the first blue flower, the music centers in both ears, and passing it draws the music to the left. Is the flower the source of the music?

Nice starter build. This is a bit nitpicky but I feel like the dog dialogue sound is fairly loud compared to the other game sounds. Possible to lower it a smidge? Not-so-secretly looking forward to when you touch on Kim again, she's still my fav pred by a long shot

Oh yeah I see it now. The coyoto jumping is super subtle but its there. I didn't notice it when I was testing it out.

It was my antivirus silently blocking the process as it turns out; quite strange! it's usually vocal about blocks. One minor bug I'd like to report; jumping with the up arrow or W key only barely jumps foxy, while spacebar functions as you would expect. (Intentional?) I'm excited to see where this new engine can go! good luck with the new updates!

What are the requirements to run this game? for me it never even boots, the process starts but just sits there indefinitely and only visible in task manager, no GUI displays. Edit: Antivirus was silently blocking it, sorry to bother.

Thank you for the feedback. The funny thing is, this is the first version to include coyote jumping. We decided to add it while we rebuilt Foxy. Maybe we will increase the time it last a tiny bit. Helldoggo is still not 100% complete. There is still more planned for him, including more Foxy lines. The blindfold change is a good idea, this might be an edit that gets done. And yes, everything is going to be improved as we make it.

only one thing in this version at least it is new, also the spikeballs hitbox is to small you can just stand in it's path, 2 steps forward 5 steps back,

I feel a bit useless commenting on the build since everything is likely going to change and the next build won't even be recogniseable to this. You've done a great job converting the movement values over. I was worried the switch might mess with how the movement feels but I think you nailed it. I love that I can finally use WASD, I have broken arrow keys and WASD makes the game so much easier to use. The new effects for the foxy fire look Fantastic. I wish foxy would participate in the actual conversation in the new scene besides making stomach rumbles. He really doesn't feel apart of the scene and having him interrupt the two talking heads might could be a memorable moment. Obvious bugs. Dying to red spikes won't respawn you. Walking into a wall constantly swaps between I think the jump and fall sprites as the player's V velocity seems to get confused. The Spike ball's hitbox is in obvious need for adjustment as you can walk past it. One big issue I have with this build is that my PC picks it up as a virus. Don't know why but I had to disable my anti-virus after I closed it the first time and tried reopening it. For minor adjustments, maybe changing the colour of the blindfolds for the two heads to make it easier to identify who is who. Or change colour of tha background of the character icon, it would make it significantly more readable. You've kinda done it by blackening the not talking head in the chatbox, but the black being the same colour as the blindfolds causes it to blend in making it hard to notice. And the ear rings, i feel, don't do enough since they're soo small. I feel like adjusting one of those might make the scene read easier. Other requests... maybe add coyoto time for jumping. It wasn't present in the GM builds and maybe thats by choice. But the godot transfer might be a good time to add it and see if it works with the movement system. Its looking good for a new starter build. I wonder if you are going to end up using this opportunity to remake or tweek old fights to make them feel much newer.
