The Timely Update (June 2023)

What's new this month?

• An all-new 'game over' scene has been added to the snek, so there are now two, which will alternate each time they're viewed. This month only, the new scene will always be the first one shown by snek; in future it'll be chosen at random.
• A lot of gameplay elements have been added, allowing almost the entire first stage, The Breezing Meadows, to be remade.
• A short, interactive tutorial now interrupts the start of the game, teaching Foxy's movement controls.
• Platforms have been implemented, along with the ability to jump up and drop down through them.
• All characters now have their own unique dialogue font.
• Helldoggo will now react to Foxfire and reflect it back at Foxy - he is immune for now.

What else are we working on? Lots of stuff, and it's a real shame we couldn't push any more of it out this month:

• There's an all-new bossfight underway which, in typical FoxyFeast style, will be very fun and very, very silly.
• The new rat NPC is fully drawn and animated, and just needs programming.
• A whole new struggle mechanic is being made for the rat NPC. We're excited to have one that doesn't involve just spamming the keyboard, and hope to adopt it elsewhere soon.
• As always, other scenes are being extended - look forward to an extension of Kim's scene in the near future.
• Foxfire can now hit stuff and deal damage, but we are still working on death animations for the NPCs.
• The key and lock system has been fully implemented - there's just nowhere it's used yet.
• We believe a regression in the engine is causing the patron plaque doodle to lose its engraving, and are planning a workaround while in talks with Godot for a proper fix. Sorry, i3wolves! We'll etch you back in soon, one way or another!
