This is the cover I was telling you about last week in this post!! just to remind you, my friend Oliver Ripley is the main mind behind a band called Cry About It, and they're releasing a deluxe version of their album soon. For this deluxe version he wanted different artists to cover different songs on the album, I was chosen to do 'Dopamine'! (cos he knows its my fav song)
you can listen to the original recording of the song here! (i recommend the whole album it's great!)
So here's my take on the song! I deliberately went in a very different direction to the original, because why not. Hope you enjoy!
Fun fact, the lyrics for this song were written by mine and Ollie's mate Caleb, who is the same Caleb that wrote the lyrics for Regular Disorder, Digital Camera, and We Will Never Be Orite. Basically if any of us are ever stuck for lyrics, Caleb is the one we all turn to. He's got a real knack for words.
It's never you've got a mind of your own now
Take it face value, leave it face value
If it was before I was older
Take it how I tell you, things that I don't tell you
A night in which you are not concerned
A night in which I'm fine I'll return
Oh, dopamine
You're my receptor
Oh, mother please
You're not my protector
Oh, dopamine
You're my receptor
Oh, mother please
Pick me up, and leave me right outside the front door
Take me end to end, I know I struck the short straw
Can you see it, I see it in your eye
You're terrified
This is my one night alive
A night in which you are not concerned
A night in which I'm fine I'll return
A night in which you are not concerned
A night in which I'm fine I'll return
Oh, dopamine
You're my receptor
Oh, mother please
You're not my protector
Oh, dopamine
You're my receptor
Oh, mother please
So yeah!
Those harmonies at 2:19 !!!!!
