I used to read Sunstone when it was just one-off strips and thought it was great, then he started stringing every.single.one. together and I thought it turned into this super cheesy overwritten snoozefest... heard he had it edited down a bit for print? there's good stuff in there for sure... Thanks for the recommendations, I don't really read comics so it's good to have some things to look out for...

'Pretty Deadly' is OK, but suffers from a similar problem as Rat Queens, for a different reason - just can't really get invested in the characters. The art is awesome, though. My two cents as far as comic books coming out now: 'Deadly Class' has amazing art and story and character development, but is very dark, almost painful to read at times - that's how much you feel the characters pain. 'Saga', of course. 'The Wicked and the Divine' surprised the hell out of me with how awesome it was/is. It's a slow burn, but that just means you don't notice the exact moment you're sucked in for good, you just are. 'Sunstone' can be a bit preachy, but that's pretty much the only downside - the characters are relateable and it's damn hot to boot.

Yeah, don't recommend Rat Queens. Never heard of Pretty Deadly (hardly read any comics) but it looks cool, will keep an eye out for it.

I was waiting to check out Rat Queens because I got a tepid vibe from some brief stuff I saw. What do you think of Pretty Deadly? Have you read it?

Ah, ye olde audience induced apathy. Interesting. I mainly know of the series through the Paizo LGBT Gamer Community Thread because of the character Braga. And Stjepan Sejic.

ahh let's see... it's not super bad, it's got some funny bits... but it's got this really Joss Whedon-at-his-smuggest aloof thing where everyone's a wise-cracking murderer, but then we're supposed to care when a main character gets hurt... Good at identifying tropes and making jokes about them but doesn't seem to have any on ideas what to actually DO with them... Can't really settle on a tone, no sense of the universe, some really lazy exposition, and all the characters are so cool & witty & tough they become interchangeable. Most annoyingly for me is that it's very obviously written by a man who seems pretty happy with himself for writing such Real Women, because they refer to their boobs all the time. Most telling for me was a scene where the all-female adventurers are sitting around a table being tough, but in the background in the same panel there's 3 identical prostitutes sitting on fat men's laps. So it's a shallow kind of equality... Basically it reads like a weak and heartless version of Saga. Art is great, though!

What don't you like about RQ? Haven't read the series myself yet but everyone else I tend to interact with loves it.

Very bad, I doubt it. In dire need of a good spanking, probably.
