If you didn't know, this operation that Easy Company was a part of was the same one that took place at the start of Saving Private Ryan. The beach attack took place several hours after the paratroopers had landed further inland, which were designed to create confusion and disrupt the Germans from collecting their soldiers and going to the beaches.

2021-12-12 16:45:51 +0000 UTCYey they tried to turn in their stripes to get rid of sobel... and as stated it was a rly bad time for all the none commisioned officers to basically leave the company, as they were just about to invade europe... imagine a whole company without any leaders.... xD It made the major realize it prolly was Sobels fault after all... he still couldnt deny his contribution tho, and therefore reassigned him to train ppl somewhere else... it was the polite way of booting him from Easy company basically... not rly, but u get where im going i hope :D

2021-12-12 02:32:21 +0000 UTCAs someone who spent a quarter of my life in the Army I an tell you that is service members really appreciate the fine details they put into this series to make it as accurate as possible. Getting rid of CPT Sobel was a must for them. Not bc he was an ass but bc he was incompetent and if he led them into battle many men would die bc of that. We had a platoon leader on my first deployment (Really nice guy) who was all over the place and not cut out to lead combat missions. We had no choice but to address our co concerns to the CO before something bad happened. The CO made him company XO so he could just stay at the FOB and work in an office rather than go out on patrol. The battle they are flying into is D day. This is the same battle you see at the beginning of Saving Private Ryan but in a different area. In that movie you see the part of the battle where they storm the beach. These guys are doing what Private Ryan did in the movie, parachuting into enemy territory. Many soldiers ended up dropping far away from their drop point and many 101st airborne units got mixed up. That is why in the movie Private Ryan was so hard to find. Great reaction and I can't wait for more.
