FEBRUARY WRITING EXPERIMENT!
Added 2021-02-02 18:39:53 +0000 UTCOkay y'all. Lots of options this month. You can see how many came from my newfound love of DnD bahaha. It has inspired several cool ideas. AS ALWAYS, I'm very excited to do any of these, so please choose whichever you'd like most to see THIS month. (And I might still do multiple.)
For additional information:
10K Day with the Discord: This is your classic attempt to write 10,000 words in 1 day. The community is participating all day in the #sprint-sprint-sprint channel over on the Discord on Saturday the 6th so I'd be in there and working to hit that sweet, sweet 10K. Recently this has been a struggle for me, but who knows how it could go!
Short Story Weekend: Brainstorm, draft, revise, and edit a short story over the weekend. ("Weekend" can also just be any 2 days.) Then I'd share the results with y'all and on my website!! I'm hoping this will also help me get more and more comfortable with sharing my writing.
D100 Writing Experiment: Inspired by the recent "D20 writing sprints" livestream, I'd have to incrementally increase my personal sprints with each dice roll. (So at first just roll a D4, then roll a D4 and a D6 together, then roll a D4 and a D6 and a D10 together, so on and so forth. THIS WOULD INCLUDE the dreaded D100 possibility that The Boyfriend shared bahaha.)
Dice Roll Writing Prompts: Assign writing prompts to each numbers and randomly assign them. Then, over the course of a day or week, work them into their own stories or my current WIPs. (Could be fun to get y'alls suggestions on prompts or do this as a live write-in and all use the same prompt???)
Dice Roll Short Story: Assign character traits, world-building characteristics, plot problems, etc. to each sided die and then roll and create a story from there. (To make it harder, I can't roll them all at once and must write at least one or two paragraphs, until I'm "stuck," before I can get the next piece of information.)
(Also I am still working on the Neil Gaiman class/vlog from December/January, I promise!!)

Please let us know when you do 10k day (if that’s what happens) because I would love to join and attempt it myself! I need the motivation!

2021-02-08 16:37:37 +0000 UTCI'm torn between 10k day with discord and the D100 writing experiment. The D100 experiment sounds really fun and interesting! But I love the 10k days too!

2021-02-04 21:50:30 +0000 UTCI'm so freaking stoked that you're getting into DnD. It's my favorite game! And it can really spawn ideas for story and character too. Aw man I love it! I feel like a labrador

2021-02-03 12:47:34 +0000 UTCWhile the 10k day sounds fun, I think it would be more interesting to see you do one of the dice roll challenges... perhaps as part of the 10k day?

2021-02-02 19:59:43 +0000 UTCI think the short story weekend is such a good exercise! Maggie Stiefvater has talked about a blog she used to have with a friend, and their challenge was to complete a short story from start to finish in a week.
