100KQ4 Results, what's up next, & the 1st of our Double Stream Days!

I hope it’s not too late to say HAPPY NEW YEAR, FRIENDS!

We did it! We survived another year, we started 2025, and we completed the 100KQ4. I’m so proud of us. Whether you wrote one word or 100,000+ during this time, it was so incredibly fun for me to see our progress each day.

And I know I wouldn’t have completed it without y’all. I squeaked by the 100K mark on the very last day:

During this challenge, I completed draft one of UNDER THE INFLUENCE, the outline for the follow-up to ACFoC (A Basement Brimming with Bodies), a separate cozy mystery outline, a silly YA fantasy outline, AND nearly finished a speculative mystery novella outline in this time to push me just over the edge. :)

(And for that little speculative mystery novella, I actually kept working on the outline and completed it the first week of the New Year, so I can mark that as complete, too!)

All to say, I HIGHLY enjoyed the 100KQ4. I’m not yet sure if we’ll bring it back in this exact same form next year, but I do know that I’d love to continue using TrackBear for random one-off challenges just for us on Patreon.

In fact, I’m trying to keep up with it myself to track my entire year of writing — but we’ll see how that goes!

This week marked my return to the revision of A Closet Full of Cauldrons. I have one little murder (that actually happens just before the book begins!) to slip in and weave throughout the story and I’m excited for that challenge. Soon I’ll be sending this off and letting beta readers tear it apart bahaha. I can’t wait!

Our next writing stream will be on Thursday, January 16th, at 3:30pm CST, where we’ll discuss REFUSE TO BE DONE and I’ll hopefully be finishing up the final new words for ACFoC. :)

I’ll actually be out of town the following week, but will be back the final week of January and we’ll have our second stream for the month then!

Thanks everyone, hope you've had a fantastic start to your year, and happy writing!!

I learned a new hobby (English paper piecing - it's a form of quilting by hand), started knitting a whole bunch of socks, and wrote 75k in November (fanfiction). I also flew 12 hours to visit my girlfriend in Brazil in October, which is something I NEVER would have thought I could accomplish, haha. It was a good Q4 for me. :)

I did so well that I'm doing it again in Q1, just to finish this damn draft I started in Q4. LOL.

WAY TO GO GIGI! That is so much to work on and accomplish. I'm so proud of you! Hooray for being on track to finish book 2!! :)

Buying a fixer-upper and moving (and renovating the garage into our barber shop/salon) at the end of October ate up my 100k time, but the challenge is why I was able to get done what I did. Thank you! I'm on track to finishing book 2 of my pseudonym series and was able to work on designing future merch. Even though I wasn't able to hit 100k, I accomplished more than I would have.
