The Bundy-conducted deposition of Nancy Dowdy, which took place in the Leon County Jail on October 30, 1978.
Bundy: Have you ever heard the name Theodore Bundy before?
Dowdy: Yes.
TB: What: do you associate with that name? What do you know about Theodore Bundy or what have you heard? What have you read? Please feel free. l mean, l know that a lot of time has passed and perhaps you may or you may not have encountered a lot of information. But I'd like you to try and relate to me as much as you associate with the name Theodore Bundy and his background as you may know it.
ND: What l know of Theodore Bundy?
TB: Right.
ND: He had been out in Colorado. He escaped from jail.
TB: Anything else?
ND: Indictment for Chi Omega and Lake City.
TB: Have you and your sorority sisters ever discussed Theodore Bundy in connection with the events that happened at the Chi Omega House?
ND: Just from what the papers have said.
TB: Well, I don't mean to play games with you. It's sometimes easier to elicit answers by using ‘Theodore Bundy.’ I mean, I am
Theodore Bundy. I have no problem with— you know, I know that I’m Theodore Bundy. But I thought that perhaps since you may have discussed things in context with the name rather than sitting across the table from the individual, it might be easier to answer the questions that way. But I don't want you to be inhibited, although you may well be. I don't want you to be inhibited from answering questions because I'm the one asking them. Let me ask you this: Do you feel do you feel very uncomfortable in this situation?
ND: No.
TB: I mean, do you feel you can freely answer my questions?
ND: Yes.
TB: Would you describe the reaction of your sorority sisters to Theodore Bundy, the name Theodore Bundy, as bitter and angry when that name is— when that person is discussed?
ND: I would say so.
TB: So would you say that some of the persons in the house have more or less made up their mind?
ND: No.
TB: My interest in-- and I’m trying to understand what you know about me; and what the reaction is, It's not purely academic or abstract, I’m simply trying to determine the impact of publicity as it affects this case. So I'm not trying to satisfy any curiosity as much as I 'm trying to understand what people think; what people feel inside. And so let me ask you: Do you have an opinion as to whether or not Theodore Bundy is guilty of what took place at the Chi Omega House?
ND: Sure. Yes. Guilty.
