Dorothy Lewis' Testimony, 1987

In late October 1987, US District Judge Kendall Sharp held a competency hearing to determine whether Ted Bundy was legally competent at the time of his 1980 trial for the murder of 12-year-old Kimberly Leach. Ted Bundy’s lawyer, Jim Coleman, argued that Bundy had a serious psychiatric illness that prevented him from making competent legal decisions in his own defense. As evidence of Bundy’s mental disorder, Coleman offered the expert testimony of Dr. Dorothy Lewis at the hearing. This is her testimony transcript.

I can't believe she mentioned his echolalia. I've noticed it on a few tape recordings but am far from an expert so it was just a hunch.

I remember seeing something where Dr. Lewis was speaking about her last interview with Bundy. That he'd asked her to stop the tape as he talked about, according to her, assaulting one of his sisters.

Dr. Lewis got owned on cross, but a great read nonetheless. Thank you!
