Ted's Weekly-Minder, 1973

Ted's daily appointments for 1973, plus acquaintance contacts.

Interestingly, he must have had this with him in jail in Colorado, as he left an enigmatic note to the FBI on May 23, 1977. That was the original target date for his first escape, which he abandoned and postponed to June 7.

It would be frightening if he wrote down a murder. Of course he would never be so reckless but even just a name...

One of the most neat finds you have ever brought to us. Thank you, Tiffany.

Is the first note a number for florists? Love how pretty and old fashioned that is.

How interesting that Ann Rule's number is in this as well as the Seattle Police Sexual/Assault number...previous page or two the King County Prosecutor and Attorney General! What a monster he was!

Stacy Brown

I just saw he had his sister listed as "Bundy, L" so I guess he was just formal that way

I enjoyed reading your theories an questions. The "Edwards" entry was weird but maybe he was concealing his contact with her from Liz?

Joy Mulvaney

Yes, he said May or June of 73, so right around the time he and Diane were rekindling their romance. Really good observations Joe, I'll bet you're right. Thanks for your thoughts, I always enjoy hearing them.

Meant MY comments are random speculation, not anyone else’s.

Wow. I finally read through it all. This is ALL just random questioning and speculation; there’s no real evidence of any of these motivations, but it’s fun to wonder about what went through that large skull: Seems he really kept busy networking for a period then it’s completely blank for a long time. Maybe he started to give up, realizing he was not going to cut it in society and began focusing on stalking? Sometimes he crosses out his tasks, sometimes he doesn’t-maybe he had trouble following through and began crossing out items when complete to ensure they got done? He had to love campaign trips-I can picture him spending late nights cruising, showing up in the morning for his duties bleary eyed. Several trips to SF, then references to Diane as they began to reconnect. Shortly thereafter there are fewer entries relating to politics- I can almost picture him seething , only fixated on the diabolical plan to dump and hurt her as he perceived she’d once done to him. Too consumed with rage to think about career and his failed efforts at living a “normal” life. He has an entry in the addresses labeled “Edwards.” It could be her parents home, but if it refers to Diane it seems oddly impersonal-like he couldn’t bring himself to label the # with her first name. Almost like the hatred was too strong. Maybe he’d filled out prior to reconnecting, at which point she was again “Diane.” And he described his revenge fantasies on her after being dumped to Nelson. Maybe he went to SF with the intention of killing her..but then changed his mind once he realized he could instead win her back and dump her. Or realized he’d be a suspect in a murder. I think his first confessed kill was ‘73? Wonder if it was before or after his new courtship of Diane. One can see him flying out to SF knowing he could kill …or seething at her and driven to violence upon his return.

Also, he added his mom as L, Bundy & Johnny Bundy. Not mom & dad. Also, zero doctors.

I've never heard that he took any victims to Davis' house. He lived in Federal Way, WA- about 32 miles from Issaquah.

Ok the infamous Lake Sammy murders occur in July 74 and Ted writes Lake Sammamish in his day planner in July 73 ?! References to caring for Ross Davis’s pets, isn’t that the pet theory that he too the Sammy victims to Ross’ house so he could murder them together ? And who is Joe Burnstin ? Mentioned several times; wouldn’t Burnstin be spelled Bernstein ? Is that some kinda typo ?

Joseph DeStefano

That thought had occurred to me but given that he called Marlin from jail -- when he presumably didn't have access to address book -- it seems that number was memorized as well. Like I said, though, it could very well have no deeper meaning at all.

Nunya consoin

Maybe she was memorized, so he didn't need to write it down.

April he took care of Ross' cats. What a gentleman lol Also can't help but notice that Liz's contact info is oddly absent. He has Ross Davis, Marlin Vortman, Temple University, and even Standard Oil -- among many others -- but not Liz. Could this mean something? Yes. Could it mean nothing? Yes. We'll never know.

It was VERY fascinating reading all of this. Getting a peek into his life before the killings begun. I wanted to read more & I’m curious to know if Ross is still alive.
