"I went upstairs, and at that point, the only one we were sure was dead was Margaret Bowman. I went into her room to confirm, and she was indeed dead. Lisa was not pronounced yet. The EMTs made the decision to keep working on her all the way to the hospital, but we lost her...
The only way that I've been able to describe what I saw that morning is to say it looked like a shark frenzy. Blood spatter everywhere, the whole nine yards..."

Jim Sewell was a 27-year-old sergeant for the Florida State University Police at the time of the Chi Omega murders and arrived on the scene minutes after the 911 call. As the school's public relations liaison, Sewell was tasked with personally calling the victims' parents-- including Lisa Levy's mother, who sadly did not yet know her daughter was dead. He also assisted with the Leach investigation when he tracked down and interviewed the Green Acres Sporting Goods store owner in Jacksonville, where Bundy had purchased a knife. Forensic examiners found the knife's price tag on the floor of the stolen FSU van, which tied the killer to Kimberly.
Bundy personally deposed him before the 1979 trial, and Sewell testified about Bundy's legal ability at his 1987 competency hearing. He was among the handful of police who witnessed the execution. He also attended the 1989 FBI multi-agency meeting to discuss the Bundy crimes, and is close friends with Bill Hagmaier.
After a long and eventful law enforcement career, Jim Sewell's memory of the case is quite sharp all these years later. He had a lot to say, and I thought he gave a very interesting interview.
