Mike Fisher Interrogation, March 1976

Colorado investigator Mike Fisher arranged to interview Ted Bundy in March 1976, shortly after his conviction for the Carol DaRonch kidnapping. Bundy was still being held at the Salt Lake County Jail when Fisher, Pitkin County Sheriff's Detective Bill Baldridge, and Ted's defense attorney John O'Connell convened for the interview. Ted is as vague and evasive as ever, but I think there are nuggets of truth throughout this.
.
.

Fisher: Yes, we're talking about January the 12th now, of 1975. It was a cold part of the year.

Bundy: I, I can't say for sure, probably was, I can't say for sure where I would have stayed on that night, 'cause I don't remember that day or that evening, January the 12th.

Fisher: Would you have been doing a lot of drinking at that time, Ted?

Bundy: I rather doubt it, as I, cause I was driving it wasn't something that I, drinking heavily, that I like to do a lot at that point in time anyway, because while driving, my primary motive as I say was to think and drinking is not compatible with that.

Fisher: Do you drink at all?

Bundy: I do drink.

Fisher: Occasionally?

Bundy: Oh, sure. I'll have a mixed drink.

Fisher: What do you generally drink when you drink?

Bundy: (laughs) Well, I drink what, oh, I'll, you know, drink beer I guess.

Fisher: Your preference?

Bundy: Schlitz.

Fisher: Hard liquor?

Bundy: Normally only on social occasions.

Fisher: Any preference there? Are you a scotch drinker?

Bundy: Whatever, whatever's available, you know, scotch, gin, vodka, anything that people are mixing up usually.

Yep, back when I still drank I would often buy Mickey's because it was cheap. Goes down easily when cold but if it warms up even a little it becomes so gross I can't drink it.

Have you had a Mickey's ? Really strong. Some bar had them to be "Kitschy" so I drank them a bunch of times. The Bar presumably had no idea about the Ted connection the bartender certainly did not I can attest to that...I'm no alcohol expert but Malt Liquor is just flat beer no suds

He told Michaud that Mickey's is his "favorite beer" and that it "makes me nasty." Take from that what you will.

All he had to do was come up with any plausible reason for being in Colorado. Instead he danced around it and claimed a faulty memory which only made him more suspicious to investigators.

Fisher walked away with the impression of how nervous Ted was in this interview; for he was purportedly sweating profusely and "smoked all their cigarettes right up." It is pretty well recorded in Larsen's book

I’d be curious what “nuggets” everyone thought showed up in this interview.

Is there any other evidence that Ted drank/liked Schlitz ? I wonder if Ted was truthful on that point. We know Ted was a beer drinker but what brand did he really drink was that it or did he have other favs as well ? Of course there is a reference to "Mickey's Big Mouths" in Phantom Prince (technically not beer but rather malt liquor-very similar to beer); I think there is a reference to him drinking Olympia somewhere or am I just imagining that because that's the Washington State Beer. I like Coors Light "I'll go on record right now"
