I think you’re correct, actually. Obviously that wasn’t the entire problem but “porn” did contribute; he talked about it to anyone who would listen, for years, and not just to Dobson. But what he was talking about, detective magazines and the like, most people wouldn’t consider to be “porn” in the traditional sense. He knew that and didn’t care because he wanted Dobson to help him.

2024-03-04 05:00:11 +0000 UTCWell it’s likely largely bullshit but not 100 % bullshit; he was hooked on those detective magazines I remember them on the newsstand when I was a real little kid the covers would always portray like rapes in progress; that was a contributing factor to some degree; his talk about post murder guilt is a joke maybe he had a tiny bit real early on; after his first victim or whatever; hard to believe Healy was his first given the circumstances but that’s a separate issue

2024-03-03 16:41:12 +0000 UTCOh certainly, I'm not discounting that. I'm simply mocking the people who, to this day, take the words of a serial killer and known manipulator at face value. They believe him because they want to. And in doing so they'll never find an effective way to handle a real issue. Porn was not the issue, no matter how much the Bible thumper want it to be. But yes it is worthwhile and fascinating to watch him at work; grasping at any and all straws in a futile effort to extend his life even one more day.
